Mark your calendars and cue the fireworks -- we’ve got something for you to really celebrate: HP TouchPad availability beginning July 1.
The Wi-Fi version of HP’s first webOS tablet will be available in the U.S. on July 1, followed by the UK, Ireland, France and Germany a few days later and Canada in mid-July. And continuing HP’s phased rollout, webOS fans in Australia, Hong Kong, Italy, New Zealand, Singapore and Spain can expect to see HP TouchPad later this year.
HP TouchPad will be available from U.S. retailers, commercial resellers and direct from HP for $499.99 (16GB) or $599.99 (32GB). If you just can’t wait for July, preorders in North America and Europe will begin June 19.
Need something more to whet your appetite? HP also said today that it will be partnering with AT&T to introduce a connected version of HP TouchPad later this summer. No details yet, but stay tuned.
You can read the press release here for the full list of retailers, or get more info here.

I hope it can reach Singapore faster.
And only TouchPad? How about other webOS phones?

i would love to buy one but it almost doesn't make sense to get a TouchPad without a pre3.

I'm very excited for the release of the TouchPad! Thank you HP/Palm for all of the hard work that is going into creating the best tablet and O/S in the world!! I'll be pre-ordering on the 19th of this month!

Great to have a date, but still don't know which carriers will have it.
Posted by: Tony | June 09, 2011 at 06:29 AM
Finally! Good work, not announce a date for the Pre 3 (and make sure it's on Sprint!)

Lets set an "at cost" rate for HP Employees so we can purchase and spread the word while working onsite with clients!!! What better way to generate interest?

and Mexico?
Posted by: Miguel Sosa | June 09, 2011 at 06:34 AM
I will buy when the Pre-3 is available on Sprint. Otherwise I won't and will move to another platform.

European launch: I think HP has forgotten to mention the Netherlands for the july launch of the TouchPad #fail

I agree with WebOS Connoisseur... waiting for the Pre3 "Make it right" deal for us Sprint Pre users. Maybe a Pre3/TouchPad bundle for Sprint with free tethering? We can hope, anyway!
Posted by: Pinball Magic | June 09, 2011 at 06:41 AM
That's great news!
As soon as there is confirmation of who will be carrying the Pre3, and with the caveat that Sprint is a carrier, I will be picking up the pair.
Until then though, I'm still using my Pre-.
I really hope the TP has some great multimedia capabilities. I'd love to be able to carry it with me to client meetings and show off video and photo products that I've produced.
Also hoping for some document (Word/Excel/PP) type apps.

Pre 3 on Sprint please!!!
Posted by: LNWJ | June 09, 2011 at 06:45 AM
Great but when will it be available in Mexico? Remember we´re still stuck here with the original Pre - time for HP to "make things right!"
Posted by: helene | June 09, 2011 at 06:48 AM
Praying Australia remains a definite, having missed out on the Pre(vious) models.
Hopefully we'll see the Veer and Pre 3, too (not to mention that rumoured slate handset).

The video on the website for the touchpad is such a let down. No hype at all.
Posted by: Callum | June 09, 2011 at 06:58 AM
how does it make sense to sell it at the same price as an iPad ?!!!
When faced with a decision to buy a tablet where the specs match to the most extent incl. the price, why buy a product with minimal ecosystem vs. a product that has been around for a while with a mature ecosystem of applications and products and what not!
Posted by: desigooner | June 09, 2011 at 07:08 AM
Someone said the best tablet? The touchpad has a single camera with lower quality than most smartphones, a semi-decent processor (not worth the price) hardly any apps, HP is closing open XML feeds amongst other things and selling this at the price of an iPad 2. Oh... and you guys need to get off the AT&T bandwagon.
Posted by: m8rx007 | June 09, 2011 at 07:42 AM
Too late; we just bought 2 iPad 2s for the household after waiting too long for this.
Also, the price should be much lower than this, no matter what you think it's 'worth.'
Maybe next time.

Indeed, where is the Netherlands in all this? Is HP not capable of doing worldwide launches like Apple?
People over here are well-versed in the English language. If it's a localization issue why won't they just release an English version for the early adopters us Dutchies are :). It would sell just as well!

Finally webOS officially in Australia! Thank you! Are any phones coming btw? I'm uncertain about buying a tablet, but would definitely buy a Pre3 ;)
Posted by: Jive Turkey | June 09, 2011 at 08:24 AM
I agree with desigooner. HP should have priced the TouchPad significantly lower than the iPad. A lower-priced TouchPad would have "forced" the consumer to consider the TouchPad. Instead, HP has just given the consumer the final approval to continue to do what it's doing -- purchase an iPad -- a known winner with a track record! HP needs to quickly offer customers a $100 rebate so the TouchPad can at least get in the game!

Yeah, when's the Pre 3 coming, and on what carriers? +1 for Pre 3 on Sprint. Not interested in AT&T.
