The new HP Veer landed at AT&T last Sunday, and -- according to webOSroundup -- “performs extremely well, is very well built, and is, no question, an engineering marvel.” Not surprisingly, we tend to agree with that assessment. If you also agree, we’ve got a fun way for you to help spread the word.
First, download the free Touchnote app in the App Catalog on your webOS phone. Touchnote lets you create -- and mail -- a customized postcard to anybody you like using photos you’ve taken on your phone (or any other photo you have stored on your phone). With a few clicks and keystrokes, you can pick an image and enter your message and address -- and in a few days your recipient will get a real printed postcard in their mailbox. The app itself is free and, while there’s usually a small charge for producing and mailing your card, we’re picking up the tab to celebrate the launch of Veer.
You can make a card using any photo, but we’re hoping that you’ll be inspired by the Veer to use a photo of something that -- like the Veer -- surprises you by just how much power is packed into such a portable package. A tiny bottle of your favorite hot sauce? Your potent new nail polish? Or maybe your puppy that doesn’t know the meaning of the word “sleep”?
Feel free to use your small-yet-powerful images to send a small-and-powerful message to a friend who’d be intrigued by the Veer. We’re a little intrigued to see what kinds of postcard images and messages you come up with, so feel free to send us a card, too! (You can reach us with your postcards at: Department of Small and Powerful Postcards, SV01.3.083, 950 W. Maude Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94085. You can send Touchnote cards in the U.S., France, Germany, Ireland, Spain and the UK. The supply of free postcards is limited, so send yours off today.)

Sadly the full title of "Dept of Small and Powerful Postcards" is too long for the recipient name and address lines in the app.
I shortened it to "webOS Overlords". I hope that works just as well.

Steven: yes, "webOS Overlords" will work just fine. We'll be sure to alert the mailroom to the change. Thanks for the heads up...

Sounds like a cool idea.
Unfortunately, the app is not available in the German app catalog.
Is this offer US exlusive again, even though cards can be sent to Germany?

It seems that in the world of HP Palm, no effort has been made to ensure postcards can be sent to other countries than France, Germany, Ireland, Spain, UK and USA. That's hardly impressive.

Will this app run on WebOS 1.4.5. How about something for the majority of your customers that you've abandoned?

Like Harold Camping HP is long on promises and short on delivery.

"You can send Touchnote cards in the U.S., France, Germany, Ireland, Spain and the UK."
> what about opening up the AppCatalog for all of us and not only those 6 countries??? Please HP make it happen!!!

Loved the App. Awaiting the delivery of my first postcard to my nom-computer Dad. The price of about $1.50 per card (when you start charging) is reasonable given US (and foriegn) postage cost plus card costs plus you get to send a personalized card with "your" personalized photo rather than a generic scene. Just had one problem - in addressing the card Tn got the contacts complete name and street address but failed to insert the City, State and Zip - I had to do that manually.

Works great on WebOS 1.4.5 (Palm Pre Plus), so no they haven't forgotten about us, at least not with this app.

Maybe Palm/HP should send all existing Pre owners who are stuck with WebOS 1.4.5 a postcard telling us just what they plan to do to "make things right"...the wait has been far too long already...

My Pre just died! I've had the same phone since launch day! never changed it! I is all beat up! software still works but the jack where you connect the charger to, was loose and now is broken. I don't have a tochstone charger so i'm screwed!
Sprint say the phone is beyond repair, the screen developed that crack around the mini usb, the power button is not working the way is supposed to. Software is mad slow and unresponsive. I'm surprise at how long I got this phone working!
I'm really upset at Palm, they forgot about us webos users in sprint. I am eligible for an upgrade and sprint don't have any webos phones I can upgrade to. WebOs have the biggest user base in Sprint and they continue to launch phones with other carriers.
Right now I have no other option but to get an Android phone, I will get the Evo 3d basically against my will cause I have to use my upgrade! I don't like Android but the hardware is so good! I was hoping for the Pre 3 on Sprint but that is all we've been having. Only hope!
Ruby it is unbelievable that in more than 2 years we don't even have a decent phone, people wanted a bigger screen and what you do; push the veer out the door first! I hope you'll be the first one out the door once you fail a second time!
