As you’ve no doubt heard -- and have perhaps even left a comment about on previous blog posts -- the HP TouchPad is coming…soon. The TouchPad sports features that will appeal to consumers and business customers alike -- built-in Beats Audio, touch-to-share, compatibility with Adobe Flash, and of course all the multitasking-Synergy-Just Type goodness that comes with the webOS territory.
We’ll have more to say about some of the consumer goodies you can look forward to…soon. (And for a peek ahead at how TouchPad could someday be the hub of your home electronics wonderland, here’s HP’s Phil McKinney offering one vision of the not-too-distant future.) Today, though, here’s a preview of just one of the ways TouchPad is going to help you get more done at work, faster and easier.
For starters, how does ready access to over 500,000 enterprise apps out of the gate sound? (It sounds something like this: “Whoaaaaaa!”) Thanks to the free Citrix Receiver -- which should be available for TouchPad at launch -- you’ll have free, secure, and easy access to a vast library of apps from your company’s IT data center.
Citrix Receiver and webOS are an ideal fit. For example, thanks to webOS’s multitasking capabilities, you can run multiple sessions simultaneously and work the same way on your mobile device that you are used to on a laptop with plenty of apps and documents open in multiple windows. Citrix Receiver also embraces touch-enabled applications. And Citrix’s “zero-touch” approach to managing scheduled downloads and updates is a perfect match for the automatic over-the-air updates offered by webOS. Developers who are familiar with the open philosophy of webOS that makes it easy to create apps for other platforms (and to bring apps to webOS from other platforms) will also appreciate the multi-platform, multi-device approach found with Citrix Receiver.
HP is the featured sponsor of the “BYO Pavilion” at Citrix’s Synergy event that kicks off today. If you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area, you can check it out here. And if you’re not in the Bay Area, you can check it out here. And of course, if you want more info on that TouchPad you’ll be running Citrix Receiver on, you can check that out here.

I'm getting tired of "soon"!

This is a very smart move by you guys. In my opinion, this will solidify the Touchpad as "the" enterprise tablet.

I want to check out the HP Touchpad itself. So when is it coming here? Here = NYC.

I agree with Marcus. I'm getting tired of "soon". Do us all a favor - next time you have a new product to show off, please do it a week or two before it hits the market. Thanks.

Why wouldn't you reference including QuickOffice out of the box in this post?
They already said that in the HPWebOS Event in Feb.

These are great news. Thinking about tablets for enterprise we see Cisco announcing its CIUS as the first corporate tablet - but the Cius is running android.
What would make set the Touchpad apart from all the other tablets is not developing lots of apps and calling them "enterprise apps" but to built in support for todays trend in informations technology:
VIRTUALIZATION
supporting citrix is great, but what I would really like to see and what will make my company buy touchpads is support for VMware View and the support of the amazing PCoIP (PC-over-IP) protocol.
In the the next few years we will see that even business users want to free. Free to choose the device they are working with and (desktop) virtualization is the solution to offer users the freedom to choose their end-device while delivering top performance and bullet proof security.
HP go VMware (!)

Hey HP don't forget you said you would make things "make things right!" I'm still waiting.
HP, your, need to learn to support your own products (provide updates, fix bugs, etc) instead of requiring its customers to rely on homebrew hacks.
HP you can't punt on customer support if you wish to win the corporate world, or win back the customers you have so rudely abandoned.

They're having a technical or supply chain difficulty with the TouchPad and Pre3 that they're scratching their heads trying to get fixed. So they are not going to announce a release date until they get whatever problem it is sorted out.

I got my money saved up and the SDK downloaded. Now please be so kind as to launch the Touchpad into my grubby little dev paws.

In the "Coming Months", "Veer in Spring", "Summer 2011", "Make it Right". Frankly I am a little spent on all of this. I might be done with WebOS as a whole. I am a launch day Pre- user, I have 2.0 my Pre-, done a FrankenPre, Preware’d and patched the **** out of my phone. Really! I shouldn’t need to do this. I see new Andriod phones released 4 times a week. Yes, I am on Sprint and I was thinking about getting a TouchPad (June 12?), now I am in doubt of my future purchase. See for the full TouchPad experience you need a companion device such as the Veer, or Pre 3, for SMS, TS, and Video Chat. HP\Palm did not say if legacy devices will support the pairing of certain features. I’m a Sprint Premier Member, I’ve been sitting on an upgrade for the last year!! Now all three of my lines are eligible for upgrades. I am almost to the point of FedEx’g my 5 Touchstones and 3 Pre-s to Jon Rubenstein’s desk!!! With a nice little letter on how I feel a little let down as a loyal Palm\WebOS enthusiast on Sprint! HP\Palm feed us a bone and soon! Sorry about the rant guys!

Hi HP. When will the App Catalog become available for other countries? I feel like I've been had - I bought an unlocked Pre2 from the UK and nobody told me I wouldn't be able to buy apps.

I'm excited to hear that the tablet will support Citrix. I will want to use this device for both personal and work activities. This will allow me to access my work applications on the go.
Frankly, this has been the deciding factor for me on whether I continue to wait or bag it...so I'm still waiting...now hand it over already.
