So first you strand your PalmOS users, and now you strand your WebOS 1.x users. All of these cute comments by Ruby to string us along. I am off contract and off Palm. My first connected device was a PALM VII and my Pre is the last from HPalm.

All the them looks really amazing, I just hope we have the Pre3 on Sprint network this summer. Keep up the hard work.

All the stuff about first, innovation on the 9th.. Was not a great show.. disappointed with it, see all the blogs from the event slowed downed half way though when they realised that no real big developments..
Then webos 1.X will not get updated to 2.X as promised, no way !! This is going to drown the 9th innovation news. The top guy obviously have no hold on what’s going on and what’s possible or not with webos.. So cannot trust anything that they say!!!
Such a shame, I really liked webos, was hoping to have a home system in time along the lines of WHS and Microsoft media centre but in webos.. I been telling people wait and see HP turn it around, it’s just a great platform.. But no more.. good bye HP palm.. This is going to be another windows – dos moment ... I am so lucky I did not buy shares in HP...
They only had the faithful keeping webso going.. Now they will be gone... such a sad day!!!
Such such such a bad day..... now I have to face all my friends and say, don't go with HP.

Please give us something clear about the "something special" that has been reported. I'd like to think that HP is not purposely stringing people along. But that it was just an unfortunate occurrence. But please come out front with the "something special" soon, to avoid the string along again. It's just not polite.

make the veer a media player. Take out the keyboard and but a virtual keyboard take out the 3g or 4g radios whatever they are no one can tell much difference now. but just leave it as wifi and give it fm radio. price it around 150 to 200 8gb - 16gb. it ould be great can compete against the ipod nano for being small and also against the ipod touch for having wifi and apps. oh and put the headphone jack on it. i think with some great advertising it would sell.

don't waste your money on palm hp products they wil lie and scam you in every way promising updates that never happen be warned these people are dirty vicious money grubbing lyers lies lies lies

No love for pre and pre+ owners who supported you up to now! Shame on you for promising flash support etc and other "coming soon" functions that hasn't happened. Goodbye HPalm

I am in a foul foul mood. I really hate being lied to. I'm one of "those people" others come to for tech hardware/software recommendations. I have personally recommended Palm WebOS devices since they came out and have gotten 6 others to actually switch to them because I like(d) WebOS that much. After 2 years of broken promises, I've had enough. (HP)Palm and WebOS are officially off my "recommended" list and onto my "avoid at all costs" list. I'm tempted to never buy another HP printer (or anything else) here at work in retaliation for the lies and broken promises.

we beta test that phone, we deserve a new phone but we not even get an update.
Posted by: stan | February 10, 2011 at 10:24 AM
Maybe it's just me, but I really think HP Palm have done their best in trying to bring the update to the original WebOS devices. They promised it by the end of last year, and then had to push it forward to March this year which shows that they were at least working hard on trying to bring it over. They're probably just as disappointed as you guys are, hence why they are offering "something special" (whatever that may be). There'd be no point in trying to run WebOS 2 on the Pre if it doesn't have the hardware to support it - maybe after intensive internal testing Palm realized that it simply wasn't a practical option. ??? Also, we can't forget that the original WebOS devices are getting old now and we really should be looking at upgrading soon (if we haven't already). While it would have been nice to see WebOS on the original Pre, we'd all be complaining if application launch times were slow and the phone was crashing, etc. Personally I'm very excited to see what HP have planned for us. My disappointment is that they've dropped the Palm name (please bring it back!), but maybe that's a sign of a new beginning. Just my two cents. Stu :-)
Posted by: Stuart Guthrie | February 10, 2011 at 11:48 AM
Hey stu wake up they don't want to put out the update because they need to sell all the left over pre2's that already have webos2.0 installed before they start selling the pre3 they don't want to miss out on ripping us for every penny they can. They are intentionally keeping the update away when you call to complain they suggest that you purchase a pre2
Posted by: AaronMinner | February 10, 2011 at 03:13 PM
Gotta love how they don't even check if they are still lying to us even in this video. Check out ~1:42:30 yeah a Palm Pre PRINTING not plus not 2 not 3 not even the lame little Kin oops I mean Veer. You just can't stop lying to us can you? Do I have voice dialing or flash or any of the other promises made yet? Oh wait I never will.
Posted by: Lightmagick | February 10, 2011 at 06:41 PM
If their "Path to 2.0" doesn't end up being a really big discount or straight up free upgrade to the Pre3 they are so going to fail. I wont be staying loyal anymore. I love the OS but if they are just going to take it away from me every time it starts to look good that's a bait and switch right there. It might be time for a class action lawsuit. But hey maybe I'll get over it, I did the first 100 or so times I was lied to by Palm/Hp.

i have had my palm for a year and a half and the thanks i get is no support no updates just a very glitchy pre phone. But it is awesome to hear all the new customers get all the perks. I guess HP just figures- screw our existing customers , why do anything for them they re already our customers. Also i have sprint so even if i want to upgrade to the pre 2 which is supposed to be at verizon this month i have to change carriers wow how simple is that thanks palm and HP......BYE
Posted by: Chris | February 11, 2011 at 12:10 PM
its funny how NOT ONE PERSON WHO IS AN EXISTING CUSTOMER IS HAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY. WE ALL FEEL THE SAME WE ALL FEEL LIKE WE WERE LIED TO. THATS NOT JUST A COINCIDENCE ALL OF US ARE UPSET. YOU GUYS ARE NOT AND DID NOT DO THE RIGHT THING FOR YOUR EXISTING CUSTOMERS
Posted by: Chris | February 11, 2011 at 12:15 PM
HP is SCREWING OVER every previous generation device over. They LIED to us and abused the trust of the loyal fans who got the Palm name where it is today. I made a video all about it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Bs4UDwz0dY

I'm with all these folks, I got the Pre Plus because of the promise that is would be one of the first mobile devices to run Adobe Flash Player...never happened. Slow updates, skipped product cycle, etc...I love my phone, and webOS is great, and has much potential, but I won't be seeing it. HP didn't make anything any better when they bought Palm. Why buy a company if you're going to wait a YEAR to release new products? HP, you need to just close the whole Palm division, because there's already cool products out there that actually do deliver on what they promise, and if you wait till summer, everyone will already have those products, most of them locked into 2 year contracts, and won't be looking at HPalm garbage, us existing customers already know what to expect from HP/Palm, and if most existing customers are like me, they'll be smart enough to go with a different platform when it's time to upgrade. Goodbye HP/Palm, the Pre Plus is my 3rd Palm product, and more than likely my last.
Posted by: Heath | February 13, 2011 at 07:21 AM
I had a Palm Vx PDA, a Treo 650 and now, unfortunately, the Palm Pre Plus. Sad to say after being screwed over by HP along with the rest of the established, existing user base of long time palm users, as soon as I'm eligible for an upgrade it's gonna be an iPhone or an Android. And I will continue to tell everyone I know online as well as in meatspace not to consider giving hp another penny. the Laserjet 4 was the last good device they made. I'm over it. Thanks for leading us on with cutesy nursery rhyme inspired hype, smoke and mirrors.

Same boat here — I will never buy another HP product again (yeah, and what’s funny is that HP didn’t even make my original Pre).
I've had lackluster performance from other HP products in the past so I don't have any expectations for them to ever put out anything good.
My biggest beef right now is that while I actually like WebOS a lot, my original Sprint Pre has a crack across the screen, a battery that won't hold more than a 5% charge, and another part just fell off the damn thing today!
Sorry, but I've never had a cell phone last much longer than 2 years, and that was MORE than AMPLE time to release at least ONE new offering without having to change carriers.
Ridiculous.
HP promises a "special surprise" for early adopters of WebOS who were screwed by the never ending string of broken promises we’ve heard. Presidential candidates don’t even back out on as many promises after being elected.
"Flash is coming soon... soon... later... next year... nevermind it’s not coming out ever... new 3rd generation phone's coming out this summer, announced when the 2nd generation phone isn’t even available yet?"
Seriously, the guy who is working on a Facebook competitor who keeps saying the site will be ready to launch next month will have a better chance of crushing Facebook's market share than HP will have in the smartphone market.
The only thing HP could do that would actually "surprise" me would be hitting a release date.

Big Company screws little guy again. I wish I could find enough people to bring a class action lawsuit against them, but they have the big lawyers and probably would be a waste of time. I am switching after almost 20 years of having a palm device, but that doesn't really matter to them. They have already calculated the fallout and have reasoned they will still make more money with new customers. Good bye HP.
Posted by: Disappointed | March 10, 2011 at 07:31 AM
Really, all I wanted was what I paid for and was promised to get. HP if you give me what I paid for and was promised to get, I would be a customer for life and would pay for new phones in the future.
