You’ve heard the rumors. You’ve read the speculation. Maybe you’ve even formulated a couple of theories of your own. Meanwhile, the clock is ticking and our “Think Beyond”
announcement on February 9 is drawing closer. The question is: What are you going to do until then? Here are a couple of suggestions:
- Why not make plans to join us for the festivities in San Francisco? We’ll be flying one member of the community to the event as our guest. To enter, just tweet the phrase “Hey, @palm - I’m ready to #thinkbeyond on February 9: http://tinyurl.com/thinkbeyond” and you’re entered (subject to official rules and eligibility, natch, but you saw that coming….). We had a great time with our winner the last time we did this and look forward to meeting one of you in person and hearing your thoughts about…um, whatever it is we’ll be sharing that day.
- Need something to distract you? Download the free webOS app Super Device Countdown and
you’ll have a handy timer to measure the remaining seconds standing between you and our announcement, plus a screenful of bouncing HP logos. (Because nothing says “waiting impatiently” like a screenful of bouncing logos.)
- Are you ready for some football? More specifically, are you ready to answer the question “What would Brett Favre do with webOS?” The folks behind @sportsliveapps and @anotherguy are offering up a $100 NFLshop.com gift card to one lucky winner brave enough to submit an answer to that question.
So what are you doing to keep yourself busy for the next couple weeks? Let us know in the comments.

Heading over there for the week, first time in San Fran!! I'll be glued to Engadget for more leaks until then :)

Thanks for the great opportunity to win! Can't afford to go down there to meet my fellow devs, but i would be there in a heartbeat!

Pick me! I've never been to San Fran and I am a huge Palm fan (since '99). It's going to be great to have a tablet to sell other than the d**m Ipad.

I'm going to spend the next few weeks deciding whether or not I'm going to wait for the next HP/PALM phone with spring or jump ship to the HTC.

Hey Riz Parvez here, I was the winner of the 1st contest Jon mentioned.
As if you need another reason to be enthusiastic about this, I wanted to share my $.02 on my trip from then.
All the folks at Palm I met were *awesome* It was terrific to share the launch event with them and see that they were just as excited and passionate as the people in the community are. Meeting them at an event like this is SUCH a wonderful experience. It's like getting a golden ticket to the Wonka Factory, I kid you not. (actually a lot of the Palm people called me the "golden ticket" winner back then).
I'm not entering in this contest, but if you win, maybe I'll see you there! GOOD LUCK!

I'll be checkin Precentral several times a day, and checkin my Calendar too. And at least once day on my bus ride home i'll be thinking about how delightful it will to have a new free webOS update and then some new hardware... and how my daughters will delight to have my 'ol Pre's and their own webOS joy. Nothin like jealous teens to motivate Dad to get himself a new phone! ;-)

I got the day off to come to SF! Please give us developers new items to start developing for at the event!! At a discounted price, free, whatever!

Until the event, i'll update my Pixi+ with the countdown app & check every day if it's "the day" ;-)
Maybe there comes an update of WebOS meanwhile ?!
Exciting times ...

I would love the opportunity, I started on the M515 (used it all through college with the foldup keyboard for all my notes and many papers) now I have a Pre on Sprint and CANNOT wait for the palmPad (or whatever they call it).

My most imminent concern, going to WebOS 2.0 with Pre 2 has left my schedule in the dumps as this latest delivery from HP Palm is incompatibel with google calender sync, as you can read all about here : http://forums.palm.com/t5/webOS-Software/strange-behavior-syncing-Pre2-Calendar-with-Google-Calendar/m-p/326834/highlight/true#M21553

i'm thinking we're all afraid of what we'd see if Brett Favre got a hold of a Pre 2...
i so wish i could go to SF... but can't afford the trip...
Posted by: Desert Denn | January 26, 2011 at 10:52 AM
I really hope the pre 2 comes to verizon soon, I really would like to switch to WebOS, I tried to get a pre plus, but verizon didnt have it anymore. Im up for upgrade, and I hope the Pre 2 will release before vz axes their unlimited data so I can grandfather into my current unlitd data plan. I want the pre 2 to be my "final" phone so-to-speak.

I'm personally not hopeful. I live in the UK and was all excited when I first heard about WebOS and the Palm Pre. Then you struck a deal with that awful network that is O2 and delayed launch for ages. Eventually I got a HTC Hero, so ended up with Android on a network of my choosing. Then I came to upgrade my phone again, this time I wanted a larger screen with higher pixel count so I could read technical programming PDF books full width (so that the source code formatting is preserved). Did HP Palm have anything on offer? Nope, I had to go with Android again, this time with the Galaxy S.
So now you're about to release a tablet, something I may buy this year. So I've seen leaked specs an your nearly 10" model has a resolution of 1024 x 768 - this is something that the Galaxy Tab has at 7". There is a Toshiba Android tablet coming out that's around 10" which will have a resolution of 1280 x 800 which will allow me to view entire PDF pages full screen. It's such a massive shame that your hardware is always so far behind, because, to be honest, using a Google OS kinda creeps me out a bit (and I really hate the way Apple locks stuff down). And being a developer, I guess I'm the kinda person you want to attract to your platform. WebOS looks amazing, but your hardware is always behind everyone else.

um you didn't even mention the 2.0 update that we have been waiting for since october along wth flash that we have been waiting for since the first half of 2010 you guys really know how to talk the talk but have no clue how to walk the walk I'm sure there will be more excuses and more delays
Posted by: AaronMinner | January 27, 2011 at 04:15 AM
What the frak? Get on with already. I am one of the traditional Palm users with a 15 yr old Palm dataset. I have the Pre with ATT but the network precludes me from using it, hence I am back on the Treo. I am waiting on the Verizon Pre 2 release, but now with the iPhone4 going there, don't want to chance their network tanking / being sucked dry by another iPhone. When will there be another HP Palm release of a product? Android is more and more likely all the time.

Pick me and my pre 2! I'll be cheap, I live in sf!
