The latest Palm webOS update (Version 1.4.5) is available for Sprint customers in the US, and is also available to webOS customers in Europe and Canada. Version 1.4.5 includes enhancements to support the public release of the webOS Plug-in Development Kit (PDK), and brings PDK gaming support for Palm Pixi. Pixi and Pixi Plus owners can now enjoy games built with the webOS PDK, including “Need for Speed Undercover” and “Assassin's Creed - Altaïr's Chronicles." See the detailed Sprint release notes here (and find those games in the App Catalog).
We've also kicked off another Hot Apps promotion to give app developers a little extra incentive to bring their apps to the Palm webOS platform using the Palm webOS PDK. This time around, developers are vying for a share of $1 million in cash and HP products. The competition runs through September 30, 2010 (details here).
And if you'd just like a few suggestions for some cool new apps you can download right now, update (or download) the free Featured Apps app, which has fresh recommendations for you (including new picks for Home Owners, Educational, Fitness, Shopping, and Commuter apps).

Great that people can now play games. When is Palm going to fix the too many open cards issue? Uh, I got no open cards. How is that too many?

I agree. Once again, no one at Palm will take responsibility for their product or the associated software updates. Verizon and Palm can continue to turn their backs on their customers without fear of any negative result. They have our money, what do we get? "It's not my fault". How hard is it to provide an update? Apple just developed and released 3 updates for the Iphone while I was tping this comment. Where did I go wrong? It all started by saying, "hello verizon, can I have a palm pre?"

Good thing the task list still provides no sorting ability.
Or that after hanging up with someone from speed dial it stays on the dialpad. Obviously if I was speed dialing someone, I wasn't interested in the dialpad being there before OR after.
And a huge thank you for the inability to change a contact's profile.
It's really disappointing that Palm began with such ability to enhance productivity, and all we're concerned about with now is playing assassin's creed. Seriously? If we wanted to do that, we'dve gotten a droid.
Looks like the beginning of the end.

New update:
no more Google calendar sync except for default calendar. I use 12 different Google calendars for all the classes I teach and other activities. WebOS 1.4.0 synced ALL the Google calendars. Now, only one calendar gets pushed to my Pre from Google. This update is NOT a step forward, considering that I still can't sync my Tasks and Memos to my desktop, edit Word or Excel docs, or do other desktop syncs. The Missing Sync, which I paid for, is so buggy I gave up.

I use a mac and Palm Desktop with my z22 for now. I would have bought a Palm Pre phone long ago if I was able to do a local sync, not a cloud, for my contacts and calendar. I have been under the impression third party software would be available for this, and although it is ridiculous to me that Palm hasn't made this happen, I was disappointed to learn through my research today, that Palm Pre cannot sync with Palm Desktop on a MAC. It can sync with iCal, which I don't use because it isn't as good as Palm Desktop. What is wrong with Palm that they don't understand the market share they are losing by refusing to provide this ability to their loyal, long term Palm users? I am so angry with them that I don't know if I would ever buy a Palm device again. Once I make a change, I won't go back. I have years of appointments stored in my desktop calendar that I want saved to my new calendar. Palm also won't provide updates to their desktop application that would allow use with newer Mac computers. I can see it is only a matter of time before I lose all my information and I AM MAD!

Hi Wendy,
There are some great desktop sync solutions for Mac users who own a Palm Pre or Palm Pixi. "The Missing Sync" is one great example.
