One of the hottest smartphone apps -- an addictive game called “Angry Birds” -- has just arrived on the webOS platform.
Rovio, the creator of “Angry Birds,” asked the webOS community if they wanted the game, and they were amazed by the enthusiasm of the webOS fan base. You asked for it, and Rovio worked quickly to get it to you. “Angry Birds” is available now for Palm Pre and Pre Plus running webOS 1.4.5, with additional availability coming for others who want to help the birds seek sweet revenge against the green pigs.
Rovio moved fast, but I’m betting a lot of webOS users will be moving even faster to download it. See for yourself what makes “Angry Birds” one of the best-selling apps in more than 60 countries.
If you can’t get enough of “Angry Birds,” Palm’s Ben Galbraith and Dion Almaer recently interviewed Peter Vesterbacka of Rovio about what it took to bring the game to webOS. Check out the podcast on the Palm Developer Blog.

Not available for VZW or ATT Pre plus users. What a shame. VZW may never get the update because they are being phased out. Get your act together, Palm.

Stupid Verizon, give me 1.4.5 already. I want more games.

Sooo... Rovio says it's your fault my pixi doesn't have birds of anger!! :(

I absolutely LOVE angry birds!

Verizon is blaming Palm for the lack of 1.4.5 on VZW. Although I've seen some forum post claiming that Verizon had the update in hand the same time as Sprint. I'm not sure who is to blame for the lack of an update for VZW users. But, if Palm isn't willing to either take responsibility for the delay or apply pressure to VZW to provide the update. I'll be moving on to another manufacturer on another provider (iPhone4 on AT&T anyone?) that will provide updates without interference of the provider.

Good lord Palm, time to start putting some pressure on AT&T and VZW to get these updates out, it's getting a little ridiculous.

I was at my local Verizon Corporate store yesterday, and their systems said that 1.4.5 is out. But when I CALLED the 800 number, they said it hasn't been pushed to the devices yet. They have it! Send it!

I have a pixi with sprint, webOS 1.4.5 and I still can't get angry birds. Why the pre, pre plus-minus...whatever?!?! HP needs to get with it or the billion they paid for palm might as well have been flushed down a toilet. Apps make "smart phones" cool or not, the lame stuff available now isn't making me happy to own a palm device. Fix this.

Can u listen to music while doing other things on the phone ?
Posted by: youngt | September 29, 2010 at 11:09 AM
Hi youngt,
You sure can. All Palm webOS smartphones multitask and you can listen to music (MP3s, streaming services like Pandora, etc.) while doing other things like browsing, messaging, and gaming. Your music player will continue running in the background.

@sgnos Verizon is well known for delaying software for a very good reason. In fact they delayed the palm treo 650 or 700 (don't remember) for months upon months after sprint launched it because it had terrible software on it. They do this because they do not want to run into situations like the blackberry storm. If verizon delays a software update believe me the reason isn't to UPSET people that doesn't make sense. They have a reason, they will usually be last to post an update since they are probably the only company who does any thorough testing. Oh, and APPLE not delaying software OK!!! They just criple the phones and features of the phones so they can get you to keep buying a new one every year!!! LOL

I have a Palm Pixi and the Angry Birds download is taking literally weeks to download and then it will pause and I can't get it off of pause. Does anyone know how I can get it to download or what the problem might be. My 6 year old is getting pretty upset about it.

yeah, verizon, att, all of them suck. All cellphone providers needs to get your stuff straight and give the people what we want. And quit worrying about all the legal stuff. And palm you need to find a way to make a phone that works. I'm on my 3rd pre plus in since august and about to be going to the fourth one. I mean... C'mon
