We knew that Palm webOS was powerful -- what with its ability to multitask and to share information across apps and all -- but apparently it has an additional power that we didn't anticipate: the ability to inspire awesome videos from our fans.
Viewing on a phone? Click here to see the Palm Commercial from Arno Arni on Vimeo.
Arno Keifl and Sven Adolph are a couple of 22-year-old students living in Germany with an interest in the Internet and consumer electronics. Palm webOS was a natural subject for a short video project. And they didn't just shoot images of the phone -- they dug into the SDK emulator to capture screen images, and built an app using Ares that you can see in the kitchen scene.
(By the way, you may have noticed the phone in the shoot was a first-generation Palm Pre. As a small thank you, we're sending Anro and Sven the latest Palm Pre Plus for O2 in Germany.)

What I liked best is the demonstration of dragging a calendar entry. I've had my Pre close to a year and didn't know you could do that.

It would be nice if videos on the Palm blog could be viewed on Palm phones. Presumably, it's because Palm phones can't run Flash that I'm staring at a grey box with a question mark inside it, instead.

New phones are nice, but the Plus is aging guys, they deserve a contract to pitch ideas for the next commercial. Don't short change these guys, it was a well well done fan effort.

Good work recognizing their hard work! (Hire them next time you need a commercial done!)

True geeks don't need these types of ads to show the power of WebOS. Geeks just know from reading the specs. But it's the majority of consumers who need these types of ads to show them what WebOS can do. Marketing is key.

dear palm, please stop making this pointless posts and work to fix your phones!! its been a year and exchange contact invite is broken, your own pdf guide does not open with pre!!! seriously don't release anything new if you can't fix these problems.

22 year-old students with an interest in the internet and consumer electronics might be useful resources in making ads in the next go-around with HP...just saying. Thanks for sending them phones.

It is a shame that the user community including WebOS internals are contributing more advertising and technical support for the Palm phones than Palm or HP are providing. Palm’s Public Relations people should be all over every fan ad and WebOS contribution with news releases and congratulatory letters or emails. Palm and HP should also take active participation on this other forum boards like pre|central and other Fan websites to help promote the company and control rumors. This was a good Ad and deserved more than a mention on the Official Palm Blog with their weekly posts. It is sad that pre|central has 4 or 5 articles a day and you guys publish one a week.

Great professional Ad. It made me see the superiority of the Palm Pre over my Iphone and Blackberry. I upgraded to the Pre Plus and ditched my Iphone.

Hey HP/Palm!
This video ad is just awesome.
You should really hire them or at least take them under contract as freelancer.
Seriously!
Greetings from Switzerland,
Rolf
