Dungeon Hunter is a highly rated action role-playing game set in a dark fantasy world, where you can create your own character, gain experience points, and save the kingdom of Gothicus. It’s "Half Time" in the Palm webOS App Catalog

If you’ve been looking for a good excuse to check out some new apps for your Palm webOS phone, here it is: Starting today (and for a limited time), nearly every app in the US Palm App Catalog and Palm web channel are available at half price. (A handful of exceptions are indicated at full price in their catalog listing.)

These are the standard full-featured apps -- how about Need for Speed Undercover, Jump O'Clock, and James Cameron's Avatar to get your weekend going? -- and entitle you to the same upgrades as always. The only difference is that between now and July 9, you’ll keep half the usual price in your pocket.

A new app -- called Featured Apps -- is now available to help you discover some great handpicked apps each week. The free app for US Palm phones will highlight a mix of new arrivals and existing favorites. (As always, you can also find the full list of available apps for your Palm phone in the App Catalog, and you can also check the Hot Apps Leaderboard to see which paid and free apps are rocketing up the charts.)

You can download the Featured Apps app here. (And in case you were wondering: No, the Featured Apps app will not be among the featured apps featured in the Featured Apps app. Otherwise, this would happen.)

Explore your options

For versatility, nothing on your Palm webOS phone’s keyboard beats the Option key. You press it to enter the numbers, punctuation, and symbols that appear above the letters on the keys, but this multipurpose button has other tricks up its sleeve as well:

• Toggle it -- To enter a series of alternate characters, press the Option key twice to lock it. Press it again to turn it off.

• Grab a screen -- Press and hold Option + Sym + P and your phone will capture what’s on your phone’s screen in .png format. You’ll find the image in the “screen captures” folder in the Photos app, where you can share and/or upload it.

• Share a web photo -- Found a picture on your favorite website that you want to share with a friend? Press and hold Option, then tap the photo to share the link, copy the URL, share the image or copy it to the Photos app.

• Move the cursor to where you need it -- To copy text, simply press and hold Option and drag your finger around the screen to insert the cursor where you want it. Then press and hold the shift key (up arrow) and drag your finger over the text you want to copy.

• Switch to USB Drive mode -- Press and hold Option + Sym + U after you attach your phone to your computer to quickly switch to USB Drive mode.

• Do a quick restart -- To perform a quick reboot to make sure your phone is running fresh, press Option + Sym + R. (Don’t worry, nothing will be erased. But should you want to do a full erase: Option + Sym + Power button.)

So give these tips a try. They’ll help you maximize your Options -- and your webOS experience.

And the winners are…

What flashes in your mind when you think about Palm webOS? Some people apparently have visions of wizards, stop-motion origami, and fervently flaunting flash cards dancing in their heads. Those are just some of the intriguing -- and now award-winning -- videos you may have seen in the recently concluded “palmSpot” contest held by webOSroundup.

Hundreds of thousands of people viewed the entries, and over 23,000 cast their vote to crown winners for the funniest, most original, best showcase for webOS, and overall best-of-show videos. You can see the winners for each category over at webOSroundup. Josh Marinacci of Palm’s developer relations team was so inspired by the contest entries that he put together his own video that asks (and answers) the question “What makes webOS fans different from the rest?” 

Congrats to webOSroundup and to all the winners, and thanks to everyone who voted, entered, and enjoyed the videos.
