On Friday night, the following tweet popped up: “@palm If you want to interview the coolest 13 year old webOS developer, you got my email ;D”
Well, why not? You might already have Connor LaCombe’s app Opregle, or you might have seen it featured on the home page of palm.com a couple of weeks ago. But you probably didn’t realize it was the work of a 13-year-old developer. (And not just any 13-year-old, but the coolest 13-year-old developer.)
Connor responded to a few quick questions via direct message over Twitter:
@palm: Have you developed on other platforms?
@connorlacombe: Nope, the Palm WebOS is the first platform that I've actually made apps for, other than developing on the web and such.
So is webOS really easy to learn, or are you just a genius? :)
Haha, well I already had some basic knowledge of JavaScript before I even heard about webOS then I learned that webOS used HTML & ...
...JavaScript to for it's apps so I figured I'd try it out, really the only part I had to learn was the Mojo framework. :)
OK, so you're a genius... How did you decide what apps to create?
Well I already had an idea of a drawing app when I first started developing for the webOS which is called Scribbl. But all my new apps...
...are requests that people have made on the popular webOS Development Forum, PreCentral.net
And what do you do when you're not developing apps?
Hanging out with friends, playing outside, and just hanging out. :)
Want to create your own apps? Stop by the Palm Developer Center to get started. (And in case you think you're seeing a pattern here...no, you don't have to be a teenager to develop for Palm webOS.)

To cool Connor! Maybe you could make me an app to keep up with books that need to be returned at the library.? ;)
