You know that old saying about the month of March? It comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. Well, in the case of LAPTOP Magazine’s March Smart Phone Madness, the Palm Pre Plus went in like a lion and came out like a champion. (And technically, March Smart Phone Madness didn’t end until April 5, but that’s another story.)
Palm Pre Plus went up against worthy rivals in its first three rounds to face the Motorola Droid in the finals -- where it prevailed this morning with a 30% margin.
Thanks to LAPTOP for hosting the event. And thanks to our amazing community of customers, fans, and developers for helping to make Palm webOS a great platform. As one comment over at LAPTOP said about the competition:
“Not only were webOS fans organized and enthusiastic, but they were articulate in WHY the Pre makes everyday life better for practical tasks. Not searching for stars in the sky…but practical stuff like integrating address books and multitasking email/txt/web/facebook in one fluid motion….I learned more about my phone from others, and I learned things that confirmed my decision to get the Pre+.”

Congrats, Palm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, keep up the good work
.... what else to say?:)

Congrats guys! Very proud of the Palm community on this win. I hope that this support comes through in big ways to get your company the traction and positive viral marketing it deserves.

palm prei i s fantastic but I would not buy another becauce I cannot easilysearh the apps because therre is no space on the screen margin to scroll without setting off a link. I would llike apps but too frustrating to get them.

Hi, I'm Seven. I have about 550 euro's to put in your wallet. All I would like in return is one of these award winning Palm Pre Plus'es that works out of the box without workarounds here in Holland. Oh, and one that comes with the Ogg Vorbis codec preferrably. Where can I make my deposit?

I'm not surprised by the unscientific landslide result (I've only played with the SDK/emulator.)
Please... come to Asia/Oz/Rest of the World! Just sell an unlocked GSM version like the Nexus. I don't think there's a lack of demand for this... go Palm!

Ok, that's great. But really, when are you going to come to the rest ofthe world? Asia, Europe, Russia? Tell us at least yes or no. But approximate dates would be much better)

I like my palm pre-however-after using it every day for 3 months I have found that it is not the phone for someone on the go. It just does not hold up well to continued use. Mine is really showing the wear, even getting hard to see the screen. If you are an on the go person, than get a phone that can keep up with you. The Palm Pre is not it.

who did you pay off to win that award. Your pre is made of cheap plastic and parts keep breaking like the power button. Thank god I get 150 bucks from sprint for a new phone because this thing is made very poorly.

Hi,
Who was the lovely lady in the
Palm march madness college basketball
commercial? Does she have her own
website(Lady wearing a red dress
walking down the street going through
her palm options)? I would like to
know more about her.

HI
The only problem I have with the Palm Pre Plus is that the keys are now sticking. Resulting in constantly having to backspace out the additional letters.

Well, well seems like Palm WebOS will be bought by HTC an Android phone manufacturer. Thats what I need, the fusion of Android and WebOS, the best smartphones OS in the market right now.

I have had Palm products for years now. I washed my Centro in the washing machine, not good. Now I have a Pre-plus. I do not need a lot of things but I would like "find" in the calendar please. Also, I have to pull the battery to reset the phone periodically to make the ringer work. When I call tech support they it is a Palm issue and will require an update to fix. So I would be very happy consumer if an update included those 2 fixes, Thanks, Joan

Joan, I have been using palm handhelds for years...have palm t/x w/ lots of memos & medication app, but found that it crashes constantly. Am considering smartphone & wondering about PrePlus. How was moving Palm info into your PrePlus? Any thoughts for another long time Palm customer?
thanx

I love the pre, but am very very dissapointed by the apps. I am not the type to play around in random little games. I enjoy technological things that ar actually useful to me. I think that palm could really learn from the apps that the iphone and droid carry. Google earth, amazing gps, priceline, the ability to turn the lights and tv on and off in your house from your phone...i haven't seen anything nearly as impressive from palm.

I want to buy a palm pre plus but it is not available in my market and the palm pre was only available from a a carrier I would not use....

I've owned several palm handhelds, including the T/X which is still working, and was very excited when the Pre Plus came to ATT. Lost my enthusiasm as soon as the phone arrived. Can't keep the Palm desktop with my contacts, to do list, notes and calendar , no Palm e-reader for all the books I've bought over the years, and the sync is in the clouds not on my desk. Sorry to say Palm, you lost a loyal user today. Hope my T/X lasts until you figure out who your loyal customers were. Put webos on a T/X type and I'll be back.
