In case you didn't hear, we just announced a merger with a little shop down the street called HP. That little shop happens to be the world’s largest technology company, and certainly one of the most revered companies in all of tech-land. Can you say "webOS acceleration"? We’re pretty excited, and pleased we surprised the world again. Go here for more information.

I'm happy for Palm. I like that they were acquired by a Silicon Valley company. Hopefully that increases the odds that something cool will actually be done with webOS going forward.

YEAH!!! WEBOS FTW

"Can you say "webOS acceleration"?" OH yeah, just what Palm needed, to partner up with one of the big guns in Silicon Valley. Bring on the webOS acceleration!

Great news. Could not have picked a better partner than HP. Quite honestly, both are very creative companies. I very much like the news, but I sure hope Jon Rubinstein will stay on board for a long time to come, not just few months, as he is the main inspiration behind the new face for Palm products.
Now, being in Canada, and not wanting to go with Bell CDMA provider, I have been waiting and waiting for Palm Pre Plus to become finally available in GSM so that I can buy the phone to work with Rogers.
To kill other smartphones on the market, make the next product with a bigger screen (3.7?), powerful processor, bigger keyboard that we can actually work without discomfort and I will be a webOS customer for life!

Congratulations! Looks like WebOS will remain alive...

Blimey, that is fantastic.
Can we be assured that WebOS will continue to thrive & be placed on the awesome hardware of HP?

Congratulations!

This is incredible news. I love HP (servers), and I love everything Palm does, so for them to be together is great. I just hope the incredible way in which Palm has been open and has embraced the developer community with webOS does not change.

"merger"? technically not true...
Posted by: Josh | April 28, 2010 at 01:32 PM
Congrats! I hope this means that we'll be seeing the HP slate powered by WebOS in relatively soon?
Posted by: KROmphroy | April 28, 2010 at 01:32 PM
Congratulations, hopefully this means that webOS get the push forward that it deserve and that Palm/HP products based on webOS will be available all over the world instead of just a few markets.

I think Palm's a perfect fit for HP's barely-there phone division.
I hope HP will comment soon on how Palm will be integrated into the company (separate division/headquarters, brand staying around, etc.).

Now you have money to hire a REAL advertising company!

Long Live webOS!

Terrific news.
I've had a Palm and/or Handspring device for 10 or 12 years, a Treo from the 300 through the 755, and now a Pre. I've always been frustrated that Palm produced such great, innovative products but couldn't break through to a broader public. With a Treo, I was doing most of what an iPhone does 5 years before the iPhone was released. I hope the combination of Palm with a company the size of HP will help get the word out about the Pre and webOS because its a great product already and webOS has the potential of being even better.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR GOING DOWN THIS ROAD...
Palm has too much history to go down the drain. My hope is that Palm will remain Palm, don't lose the Palm brand itself...

NICE YEA FOR US!
Cant wait for the PRE 2
Posted by: Mike Blumenthal | April 28, 2010 at 02:19 PM
Go Palm Go....
Now just launch the Pre on AT&T and I'll be happy!!!
Posted by: Obsidial | April 28, 2010 at 02:23 PM
Congratulations! I'm more excited than ever about the future of my Pre and I can't wait to buy the next device that you guys release. WebOS is amazing.

Keep webOS, keep the trusty palm brand. I'll buy a German pre plus and the follow-up device as well - as long as its palm branded.

I'm a loyal Palm customer and ardent supporter. I am glad that Palm will be able to continue to develop innovative products and look forward to the future.
