The latest update to Palm webOS is now arriving on your phone via an over-the-air update. The update is now available for customers on the Sprint network in the US and on the O2 UK, O2 DE, O2 Ireland, and Movistar networks in Europe. [February 27: The update was released today for customers using the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus on Verizon Wireless.] The update is expected to be available for Palm webOS phones on other networks soon. Highlights of the latest update include:
- The ability to capture, edit, and share video: Not only can you easily shoot video footage from your Palm webOS phone, but you can also make quick edits and upload your footage to YouTube or Facebook (or send them via email or MMS) with just a couple of taps. See the video capabilities in action in the video below.
- Get more done faster: The Calendar, Phone, Messaging, and Email apps have all been enhanced with new features to simplify common tasks (many based on feedback from our customers). For example, in the Calendar app, you can now dial a number that appears in the subject of an appointment. In the Email app, you can now sort by date, sender, and subject. In the Phone app, the Call log offers more options to easily connect to a contact (such as via SMS). And there are some new shortcuts for zipping from one app to another (for example, moving from a chat view to a phone call with that person). You¹ll also see improved performance in these apps.
- Enhanced notifications: The LED in the gesture area now lights up and pulses if you have a notification (even when the screen is off). You can also customize notification sounds in Messaging, Email (on an account-by-account basis), and Calendar. And there are new notification sounds in the ringtones library to give your more customization options for your alert.
See more details of the Palm webOS 1.4 update in action here. Your phone will automatically update within a few days once Palm webOS 1.4 is available on your carrier. You can also trigger the update using the Updates app. We always welcome your feedback on what you’d like to see in the next Palm webOS update -- share your thoughts here.

So happy webOS 1.4 has arrived but VERY disappointed VZW hasn"t released it yet. What's the deal with the doughnuts on that? I thought the Pre Plus was what Palm used at CES to show us 1.4 features. Where is the love from Big Red??

I just was chatting with Palm customer service and it apears the reason Verizon did not get the update today is because there is an issue that there engineers need to work on, I am not a very happy person right now and I feel kinda stupid because I believed the hype from January that the update would be available. I think I am just going to buy my time and wait until March 23 and go with the Google Nexus.

Is the double-typed and missing letters issue fixed?

I don't think thats right at all palm that the old palm pre's get there's before the palm pre plus do. The palm pre plus was showing at the Palm's Presentation at the 2010 CES
with webOS 1.4 I would think it would have came install on the pre plus already as a new owner of the palm pre plus i'm happy.
That's was false advertise at the when the palm pre came out it show the webOS 1.4 verison.

PLEASE put the green and blue call icons back in the call log!!

So what's the problem with your product sales? The hardware!!! You need something with a large 3.5-4 inch screen, slim and with an onscreen keyboard and then i'll buy a palm. Without that, Palm is doomed!

noticeably zippier, which addresses my biggest complaint about my pre--thank you.
the new enhancements are a nice plus. video recording is long overdue, and i'm glad it's already integrated with YT/FB. but i esp. appreciate being able to pull up ppls contact info & sms via call log. and being able contact ppl from calendar.
overall, a zippier pre + more integrated features = faster pre experience overall. kudos.
suggestions for future updates:
1. a first rate FB app
2. ability to move the cursor left & right w/o touchscreen. sometimes it's hard to move it by just one letter when editing a misspelling.
3. tethering
4. anything to make the pre even faster!

we need it in canada!!!!!! people are complaining about which phone got it first, who cares, you got it didn't you!? what about us here in canada (and the other places that didn't get it), we're stuck with a "soon" what does that even mean!? wish they supported their customers better, and had better answers then "we dont know" and "soon" dont get me wrong i love my phone, just would love it that much more if everyone was treated equaly and got it at the same time as everyone else. that and paid apps! please guys we want it just as bad as the rest of the world
