This is a test you can't flunk. And who's keeping score anyway? Here's your chance to show off your Palm webOS knowledge.
Q: What is the square root of 986,097,225?
HINT: Open Calculator and press Spacebar to see advanced operations like square root and percentage.
Q: You're on a train going west at 40mph. Where's the next stop?
HINT: The Google Maps app shows stations for light rail, trains and more. Double-tap to zoom in, and tap the icon to see the station name.
Q: Name two recurrent similes or metaphors that appear in Duran Duran videos.
HINT: In the Music app, while you're listening to a track, open the application menu and tap YouTube. You can automatically search the current artist or song.
Q: List three popular misspellings of common words.
HINT: Your Palm webOS phone automatically corrects common misspellings. But if you actually did want to say "teh movei weas gerat -- thx!," just press backspace once to un-do auto-corrections as they appear.
Q: Is this famous movie quote accurate?: "I know what you're thinking. You want to take a self portrait but in all the excitement you can't see the shutter icon because the phone's turned around. Do you feel lucky? Well do ya, punk?"
HINT: Yes, you’re lucky because you know about the Spacebar! Press it once to take a picture. Press and hold to take a picture every second or so.
Q: If an email is accidentally deleted in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
HINT: There is no correct answer, but you can get the email back. Go to the Deleted Items folder and open the deleted email. Meta-tap + M ("Move to folder ...") then move it wherever you want.
Bonus Q: What’s a "meta-tap"?
HINT: It's a quick way to do menu actions. Tap and hold in the gesture area with one finger, then press a letter key with your other finger. Discover meta-tap shortcuts in the application menus: look for the bull’s-eye + letter combos.
Pencils down, class. Test over. For extra credit, post your favorite tips and tricks in the comments.

Nice article, but you got one thing wrong. "Q: If an email is accidentally deleted in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
HINT: There is no correct answer, but you can get the email back. Go to the Deleted Items folder and open the deleted email. Meta-tap + M ("Move to folder ...") then move it wherever you want."
This doesn't actually work. Try it and let me know if it works for you and I'll eat crow. The function is there, but the paste fails!

The email trick depends on your mail server. Pop will typically not handle it so well. IMAP will.

How about a direct way to undo accidental mail deletes (and accidental move-to-folder)?
Going to the deleted items folder, and retrieving messages from there, works in theory but it's too slow for me to actually use on my work Exchange account. When I go to the deleted items folder, the Pre starts pulling down all the mail in the folder, in absolutely the wrong order -- oldest first. It's literally several minutes until it shows the mail from 5 minutes ago that I deleted 2 minutes ago.
It's even worse if you invoke move-to-folder, mean to move a message to folder A, and accidentally tap a different folder. Now you have to know which folder you moved the message to, go there, wait for that folder to enumerate, and (assuming you guessed right) you can move the message where it's meant to be.
I pretty much avoid using move-to-folder on the Pre because of this.
A real "undo move" feature would be so much nicer.

Q: When is the 1.4 update being released?
Posted by: Lots of Palm owners | February 11, 2010 at 03:28 PM
Psst! Pass it along: I loved my Treo with Sprint but I'm sorely needing an upgraded phone. Considered the Pre, but decided to wait for "version 2." Now that updated version comes out but only on Verizon?! (Pre Plus).
Don't bet on me switching carriers. I'd rather switch away from Palm. Bye-bye!
(Ain't the free market great?)

I had a problem with my pre when I updated it to 1.4, the ringtone stop doing playback and most of the apps that playblack music won't playback any music! It f'ed up for me becuse I do music and it's also way I got the phone! I'm upset because it worked fine before the update! Hope the fix that problem quick but I will be calling palm later tody and give them a real holla about that stupid problem! Spent to much and this phone to have this problem! I am disapointed in palm for this screw up!

I like the video option capability option of course but the one thing I do not like is that now the times that texts come in does not appear! This is terrible! I can not understand why Palm changed this?? Shouldn't each text be marked with the time it's received and not just the day it's recieved??
Terrible!! This must be changed back!
