Of course you can check out the user reviews of apps in the Palm App Catalog, but we thought you might like to hear what apps some of the folks inside Palm are using these days. So here are some favorite apps from people who live and breathe Palm webOS every day:
Mark A.: “Tweed is probably No. 1 because it lets me keep up on all my tweeps and allows me to tweet pics etc. I also like the Concert Finder app because I can find all the concerts going on in my area months in advance.”
Lally N.: “My favorite Palm webOS app is Let’s Golf because at any time in the day I can take a break and play a few holes… and pretend I can actually break 90."
Gail K.: “The People application. It’s a total guilty pleasure. I love looking at it when I’ve got a little time to kill.”
Eric P.: “With Party Sign, I can communicate with people across the room without having to talk. It scrolls whatever message you type across your screen. I also like Tune Your Guitar Pro, as I’m a drummer and always like to challenge my guitar player’s ears!!”
Gerard B.: “I love the homebrew app YouView because it works great as a visual voicemail solution. I never have to go through five prompts again just to listen to my voicemail, and deleting voicemail messages is only one finger swipe away.”
That’s a sample of the view from the inside. If you have any favorite apps you’d like to suggest, leave a comment. Word of mouth (or blog) is often the best recommendation…

Hi danielle,
A number of sites allow you to explore the Palm App Catalog through a browser, including:
http://www.myappbox.com
http://www.precentral.net/app-gallery/app-catalog/
http://houseofpalm.com
Of course, you can also browse, download and install apps directly with your Palm webOS phone. Hope it helps!

Appscoop and Pandora are my favorite two webOS apps. I like Appscoop because it gives me a sneak peak as to what apps are about to make their way to the App Catalog. Pandora is great because it allows you to pick a favorite artist, and from there it composes a playlist of artists similar to the artist you picked as your favorite. Both are free, so that doesn't hurt.

I understand Palm has a slower hardware roll-out cycle, but you've should offer one product in each niche. Your competitors don't wait for a once every two years update parties.
HTC just unveiled three phones and they've
- Copied your card view
- Copied your wi-fi hotspot, without the $40/month subscription (per recent data). Although the $15 my tether solves that, it's already being included without fees on other phones. And those of us on Sprint network are out in the cold.
- Included a large 3.7" AMOLED screen with an incredible display, and 5MP camera.
- Included FM radio.
It's a cutthroat hardware world. Imitation may be a sincere form of flattery, but when improve on what you have, and offer other features, it's also a way to cut you out of business.
Give those of us on the Sprint network some hope and announce plans to a larger screen device with a sideways keyboard, a la the droid. Announce it for *both* the Sprint and Verizon (both CDMA) platforms at the same time. Please don't make us wait another year, just to hear your next announcement is the "Palm Pre Plus 2" phone for AT&T, while Sprint users dangle.

I don't know if patches count so this may be a little off topic, but an app that could do the top 5 things on this poll would be my favorite.

If people at Palm like using YouView, why is the app not allowed to access the earpiece (audio is played over the speaker on the back)? My understanding this is a Palm issue, something out of YouView's (Syntactix) hands. Any progress towards allowing third party developers, especially those creating useful apps such as visual voicemail, to use the earpiece?

I bought my Palm Pre Plus about a week ago after it was recommended by a friend who has a Droid. He previously owned a Palm Pre before he bought the Droid. I can honestely say, the Palm Pre is the best phone I have owned or have seen to date. I am very happy with my phone and could not ask for anything else. Thanks Palm for the quality product. Keep up the awesome work.

The YouView link is either broken or the application is not available.
