The Palm App Catalog team has made all of the information about Palm webOS apps available as a publicly accessible data feed. This includes the application descriptions, sample screens, ratings, pricing, and number of downloads. This data is available for all third-party applications, whether they’re distributed in the Palm App Catalog, independently distributed over the web, or in a beta test stage.

Already, several community directories of Palm webOS apps have been created for people seeking alternative ways to discover Palm webOS apps beyond the Palm App Catalog on a Palm Pre or Palm Pixi. For example, if you don’t yet have a Palm phone, you can explore the available apps on the web. And even if you have a Palm webOS phone, you can compare and evaluate apps in different ways.
The first sites using the Palm webOS app data include:
Another site --
Project Appetite -- is an open source project created by Palm's Developer Relations team to demonstrate what's possible with the custom feeds to provide a foundation that other projects can build on.
If you’ve got an idea for using this data stream -- to create a community site for Palm webOS apps, to analyze the evolving market for smartphone apps, or even to create a piece of online conceptual art -- you can find the all the details you need for tapping into the data stream
here.

When will Palm fix the Exchange Email PROBLEM? The network time zone keeps defaulting back to the Cayman Islands EST. I've spent a lot of time on-line with Palm and after months still having problems! I've turned off the network time zone and then I change to New York City EST and it turns itself back on and default back too the Cayment Islands again & again. This causes a communcation problem when setting appointments on the Pre Calendar; the appointment will not sync to my outlook Calendar, but if I set an appointment on my outlook than it transfers to my pre calendar. This all started after the 1.3.1 update

Why won't Palm open up development of applications in JVM? This would enable greater ease of porting applications and make the platform more attractive to developers.

I find less than reassuring that there are few if any apps available at Handago.com for the pixi and pre. And it is not clear from the Palm or Verizonwireless site whether their versions of the palm cell phone would support any apps not purchased through VerizonWireless. And my search for a replacement for my TX continues. I don't see the wonderful selection of apps that I know are tested and safe to use anywhere. The handago selection of apps for the TX were always good. Maybe I will just get the only large screen MP3 "player" and force it to become a PDA. I see no other options. It is either that or lug a netbook around. Suggestions are welcome!

These are only HOMEBREW apps. They are BETA APPS STILL UNDER TESTING. There is no way that Verizon Wireless warranty will not be voided if I were to install these. What happened to all the apps you were going to do? Isn't this why you killed the beloved and truly functional and cool Palm TX? Because you had these nifty phones that had apps? I can't find any apps sold that are not homebrew beta stuff of uncertain quality. I have tons of stuff that was on my palm tx.
And how the hell am I supposed to back up a palm without a card to install in it??? Why are you copying Apple?? I don't want an apple. I want a TX.

Verizon Wireless insists that the only way to buy apps is to download them from the app catalog on the phone itself. That there is no other way to get apps. If this is true, this means there is no backup copy of any apps!! And it also means that Verizon does not want any one loading stuff from these websites. is this correct????
I am having a really terrible day. I should never had bought a Palm handhard as there is absolutely no way to continue to use Palm products in the same way as my pda!! What are loyal Palm customers supposed to do now that we can't buy a handheld?? What are we supposed to buy?? A cell phone is not a handheld.

Hi Karl,
Just launch the "Date & Time" app and switch network time on. That'll keep your Palm phone in sync with your carrier's network time server.
