If you use certain configurations of Exchange 2007, you may have experienced some problems syncing your EAS email with your Palm Pre after updating to webOS 1.2. That issue has been fixed with the release of webOS 1.2.1 for Sprint customers -- you'll automatically receive an over-the-air update in the next few days. For additional information about webOS 1.2.1, you can find the release notes here. This release also re-enables the ability of Palm media sync to work with the current version of iTunes.
Just loaded the Palm WebOS 1.2.1
Comments:
1. Lag is back
2. Having problems with web pages loading. So far have only had luck with the Sprint page. Nothing else loads. Not even Palm's own page. Signal strength shows as EV 5 bars.
3. Still no "Participants" in the Exchange calendar when you initiate an appointment. This is sooo limiting for business use.
thanks

ADD SPELL CHECK!!! The phone is great!

Just returned from Sprint Service store where they gave me a replacement Pre with OS 1.1.0 and my pin locking problem (mentioned by TM above (EAS related) disappeared as I've seen in other blogs. Will try desperately to keep the 1.1.0 OS on my Pre until this is addressed. Strangest part: In the Screen/Unlock menu - the 1.2 OS (after requiring a 4 digit pin for EAS) changed the screen to only the choice of Secure Unlock - Change Pin. Now I happily have Secure Unlock Off or On as a choice again. Are the developers aware of this and fixing it?

I just downloaded the update and now my phone won't turn on. It's been dead for about an hour. So....what do I do now?

I wish people would shut up about the iTunes sync issue. How can you be against those of us who'd like to use iTunes?
If you don't want to use it, don't use it! But keep your paws off me and my ability to use an app I've grown accustomed to.
Thanks, Palm! I'm looking forward to buying a Pixi when it's about twice as fast as it is now. Still too slow. Hurry, please.

How about an option to forward text messages and MMS messages. A real basic feature that i miss on my other phone, but cannot get on my Pre. Love the phone, wish i had the forward text message option. Thanks!!

Please fix the dropped contact issue after deletion of a conversation. If you delete a conversation in mms, that contact can no longer participate in conversations w/o deleting the contact from the pre completely and re-entering.

OK, after the 1.2.1 update, apps have become sluggish, and sometimes fail to launch at all. My Calendar app is basically useless, it can take as long as 5 minutes to "clear" the screen, and it shows my wife's calendar's events 7 hours earlier than they are actually scheduled for, even though they are correct in Google Calendar. And I no longer receive SMS messages from Twitter.
What's going on here?
Also, when will SMS have a character count?

Seriously need voice dial. It is a safety issue, not merely a nifty trick. What is the point of hands free blue tooth if i still need to look up my contacts or use the dial pad. Of course, this has been said over and over and nothing has been done of yet...

I've noticed 2 issues:
1. When you're on a call and you want to simply tap the menu on the top (where you can access to bluetooth and wi-fi functions), the screen starts to turn off and on.. Really annoying when you just want to turn bluetooth on to transfer the call on bluetooth headset.. Is it something that happens on all phones? Or it's a technical problem and I should change my pre for a new one?
2. When I send a text message the error (code 107) sometimes pops out. Bell technical service people told me it's an issue that Palm employeees were aware of. Are you guys working on it?
(It's the first time I post comment on this site.. I don't know if you guys are answering questions through e-mail? If yes I'd like to recieve an answer about the issues ive posted)

One of the most basic features that is still missing is that birthdays from one's contacts are not copied automatically into the calendar. This is a very basic and essential feature.
I have already missed several important birthdays because of this, a problem I never had on any previous phone, including the Treo. Can we please get some confirmation that this will be addressed soon?

I LOVE MY NEW PRE! I can't figure out how to forward a text message or a video message. Any info would be great! Thanks!

keep up the good work guys! I like the smoother zoom feature on the web. I don't use itunes with the pre but I guess mixed results eh? As far as everything else the posters are saying its good requests but come on... The palm pre guys shouldn't blow their load on the first updates... Also I'm going to germany in a couple months and was wondering if data on the palm in germany is available. I heard europe is more networked advanced than the US and wonders if this applies to europes cell phones... I also like when I get a notification for a text it includes the picture of the person

Please add the forwarding texts capability. This phone is too expensive to have all the clunkers out there beating it in something as simple as that.

I think it's pathetic that Palm has stooped to hacking another company's software. I considered a Pre until I saw how low and unprofessional this is. Consider how bad this is for the consumer - every time iTunes releases a new version, they will disable the crap hack that Palm has done, and the Pre user will be unable to sync with it again... until Palm does their illegal software maneuvering again.
Hey Palm! There are ways to properly sync with Itunes. Maybe you just don't have enough talent to code that...? (you could just utilize doubletwist) Or maybe you just don't think rules apply to you.
In any case, I've owned many Palm devices in the past, but will no longer purchase anything from you.

The Palm Pre should have text/pic message forwarding capability and capability to send to multiples. Also where is the video capability? These are basic things for today's phones. I could get a free phone and get these features.

I'm still having problems syncing with MS Exchange, even after the 1.2.1 update. Co-workers with other phones have no problem syncing, as a Pre user I'm still having problems. I continue to receive an error "Unable to validate incoming mail server settings".
I would much rather be able to sync my work information than be able to sync with iTunes. I'm still able to transfer my media onto my phone using the cable, but I'm not able to sync my work Calendar. If I wanted an iphone, I would have bought one, so maybe less focus on itunes and more focus on basic problems.

You can copy and paste a text if you want to forward it. Not a big deal
Posted by: Brooke | October 12, 2009 at 01:03 PM
It would be nice if you added support to play ogg vorbis audio files on the pre. http://www.vorbis.com/
It shouldn't be too hard since FFmpeg just added vorbis support recently and I see WebOS already uses FFmpeg so it's hopefully just a matter of updating the packages and some tweaking. http://opensource.palm.com/1.1.0/index.html

Top 3 Enhancements:
- Spell check
- Predictive text
- Copy/Paste from email
For the most part love the phone. Keep the enhancements coming.

Palm Pre gods, can you please create a link on each contacts page that allows you to see all or recent texts and emails from that individual.
Seeing that I use this phone/computer/PDA/web browser/genius device for absolutely everything I think this would be the best way to limit unnecessary swipes between cards.
