Some new apps in the Palm Beta App Catalog will help you do just about anything you need to do -- as long as it begins with the letter T:

- T is for TV: It’s game time, and you’re nowhere near a TV? No problem. DIRECTV NFL Mobile gives DIRECTV SuperFan subscribers a live stream of every NFL Sunday Ticket game (season starts September 13) as well as the Red Zone channel. It also offers player and team stats and highlight video clips from every game as they happen.
- T is for Tip: Tip ’em! from Azoombi not only crunches through the calculations you need to figure out the appropriate tip, but adds some nice coffee-stained touches

of realism to the experience. Dumb Waiter from Binary Idiot offers scenario-based tip calculations (was your server a superstar or a tad late with drinks?) to guide you to the right amount.
- T is for Translation: Janni Kovacs’s aptly named Translator app provides a quick translation of words and sentences across 45 languages; you can send the translated text via messaging or email.
- T is (sorta) for The Globe and Mail: The latest news from Canada’s venerable national newspaper is now available in a webOS app.
- T is for Transit: T-Maps from Geezer Networks provides comprehensive transportation info for the Washington, DC metro area (with more cities to come), including trains, subways, and buses. (Maps are built into the app, so you can still access them when you’re caught with any signal underground.)
- T is for Taurus: Whatever your zodiac sign is, Handmark’s Express Horoscopes offers you daily readings, celebrity birthdays, and other astrological insights.

- T is for To….How-To, that is: OK, this whole “words beginning with T” is running into a few stumbling blocks. Fortunately, WikiHow is a new app that keeps “how to” instructions for just about any problem you might run into (jumpstarting a car, performing CPR, and -- yes, Mr. Colbert -- escaping a bear). Emergency tips are cached in a “Survival Kit” so you can be sure you’ll know how to avoid getting bit by a rattlesnake at all times.
Want more? CoinFlip, Zilch Lite, UberPass, PhotoDialer, and Lemonade are also debuting today.

If you are already a Superfan subscriber, the DirectTV Mobile NFL App looks pretty sweet. As a non-subscriber (DirectTV not available here), I wish they would make it more of a pay per view type service. I would go for $3-$5 per game. On a side note, I see DirectTV has announced a similar application coming for the iPhone. Even on the iPhone, the Superfan package is just too expensive.
