Starting today, Palm Pre is available for the Bell Mobility network. Ready to get yours? You can order online or stop by your local Bell store and other retail partners. If you’re in the Toronto area, you can also get a hands-on experience at a special Pre showcase at the Eaton Centre through September 5, where you’ll also have the chance to enter a daily giveaway.
Check out “
Meet My Palm Pre” on Facebook, where you can see some fun videos of reactions to Palm Pre from a handful of lucky Canadians who got a sneak peek courtesy of our roving correspondent.
And to help kick off Palm Pre’s arrival in Canada, you’ll find several new apps in the Palm Pre beta App Catalog, including a webOS version of Yelp, the popular guide to restaurants, nightspots, and other local businesses. Yelp for Palm Pre makes it simple to find a nearby business, locate it on a map, and add it as a business as a contact. An update for the Twitter app Tweed offers both French and English language versions, and you’ll also find a news apps for The Canadian Press Mobile. (Other new apps include Tetris Mania and Yahtzee.)

Is Bell CDMA or GSM?

:-(
There are no local stores in Saskatchewan, Yukon, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and most importantly, my home province of Manitoba.
Looks like I'll have to wait for Bell carrier exclusivity to end.
I LOVE the new apps though. Canadian Press app released the same day as Canadian Pre release is pretty sweet :)

WHY OH WHY is it not available in Thunder Bay... this is the device I've been waiting for. I've used just about every iteration of Palm there is... and now I have to wait even longer. Bell just won't work in Thunder Bay (at least not with a Thunder Bay #)... any other carrier would have.

Would it be possible to change this to indicate that the Pre has arrived in *Toronto*. Those of us in the rest of Canada would love to get our hands on a Pre but can't since Bell Mobility isn't a carrier throughout Canada.

I find the Palm Pre screen to be extremely slow compared to older Palm touch screens...it has to sit and think for several seconds before it changes, and by that time I have hit it several times and it goes somewhere I do not know hwere I am...Is it possible I have a bad machine. The other thing it does it shuts down after taking a call, and it takes 1.3 minutes to come back up...this is way to slow..I am thinking about going back to my Treo that was faster and stayed on...

I recently purchased the Palm Pre (in Canada) and my first impression is, this is one amazing little gadget!! I am upgrading from a Palm T/X and, obviously, there is no comparison. Easy to use, easy to navigate, loads applications and browses the internet very quickly. I have only a few complaints worthy of mention.
1) There is no expandable memory (it comes with 8GB built-in).
2) I doesn't come with any software (i.e. Palm Desktop)and it only syncs up with Google, Facebook and/or Microsoft Outlook Exchange (a REAL pain for people upgrading from an older Palm product/software)
4) Contact information does not sync with your calendar (i.e. birthdays); they must be input manually.
5) Battery life is limited (approx. one day, average use, per charge)
Aside from these issues, which can be fixed on later models/updates, the Palm Pre is flawless!! The screen is big, clear and vibrant. The buttons are a little small (no worse than a Blackberry), but comfortable and managable. Initial setup is a breeze. The ease of use of the touch screen and controls are unmatched by anything on the market today. The Palm Pre is an amazing new device that will make anyone proud to own one. I know I am.

I had convinced our management to go ahead and upgrade our management team to the Palm Pre's.. Since it's now Provincial Law that handsfree devices must be used in the vechile.
The Palm Pre has no in-phone Voice Dialer. We've had to return all our Pre's becuase Palm can't give us an ETA of Handsfree Voice Dialing.. :( Sorry Palm..

I had used my friend's Palm for sometime and since then I have been a fan of Palm. I am just planning to buy it at the earliest. I feel that I am now addicted to it. Keep up the good work going.
