Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Palm Pre to Launch in Europe with O2 and Movistar:

» Palm Pre to launch in Europe with Telefonica from Mobility Mind
A lot of people are waiting for Palm to release their new smartphone, the Palm Pre, with carriers/operators other than US-based Sprint. While there were rumours of a second webOS-based device, the Palm EOS for GSM networks, it turns out that Palm is ... [Read More]

Nice to have this confirmed, but I'd personally been hoping for a little bit more. Since I already knew I'd probably have to change providers to get the Pre, and will have to start budgeting for the cancellation and signup charges (plus the cost of the handset), the price and date are more important to me than which network it's on.

Still, I guess this is a start. :)

Which holidays? Tell me we don't have to wait 'til Christmas??? :-(

Andrew

I'm looking forward to having a Pre for my summer holiday....or do you mean the Christmas holidays?

Joxe Rojas

That's really dissapointing news for many of us in Spain who were expecting the Pre would provide a way to run away from the Telefonica monopoly over high-spec smartphones.

Many of us in Spain can't forget how Telefonica treated us while they were the only phon company here not so long ago :(

Jiri Skoda

Nice. And what about other European countries?

David

I'm somewhat disappointed - no O2 coverage in my area (I'm just 5 miles from a major town!) and would have liked it to be on Vodafone.
What spark went off in a Palm exec's mind that they thought it was a good idea to put it in the same store as the iphone?
Having said all that - at last some news!
The key thing is when, exactly, and how much? Let's hope it's summer holidays and not the American holidays (Christmas).

Daniel Lewis

Okay, so it's GSM. Well done.

Now how about the rest of the world? Australia?

gmfer

What about the Pre GSM in Mexico... I'm still waiting for solid news.. (please say telcel)

Derrick

LAUNCH SOME APPS ALREADY!!!

MastaHaze

=) Hey pals, what about the rest of europe? mhh let me think...Italy? there will be a free version or you'll go vodafone with the two years contract?

MrFusion

Please tell me that this means Telefonica (as Movistar) will also bring the Pre to Mexico. People here are dying to have one. (Iusacell would also be nice, since they have good data plans). Pleeeease!

Still disapointed

I have to say, I really want the pre, but the wait and lack of information being provided is starting to make me wonder how much palm really care about their non-US market.

Perhaps I should just go with an iphone or the new HTC android instead, where at least I know customers are being kept updated, and are not made to wait nearly a year between US and "rest of world" releases

There are more people in the rest of the world than there are in the US you know, it might be a smart move to try and get on their good side, especially as many countries are far more adoptive of new tech than the US too.

t-mo

Bring GSM to states and watch sales JUMP.

Toni Kisely

Great news for Europe..any news on when the Palm Pre will be available in Australia

Anna Moore

Schools broke up today so the holidays have started but where is the Pre?

Flora Papini

When will Pre be available in Italy???? And through Vodafone, hopefully??? We are most eager to purchase two!

Pranav

when will it release in Asia?
