After unveiling Palm Pre at CES in January, we wanted to give you the opportunity to get to know a few of the people behind the product. Over the past few months, we’ve introduced you to people who have helped to:
- turn Pre from concept to reality
- complement Pre with breakthrough accessories like the Touchstone inductive charger
- develop the webOS that powers Pre
- ensure that the Pre user interface was intuitive and engaging
- effectively convey the Pre story on palm.com
- convey the Pre message to everyone through break-the-mold advertising
- coordinate every facet of launching Pre.
Today, Palm’s first webOS-powered phone -- Palm Pre -- is available on the Sprint Now Network. We thought this would be a good occasion to give you the chance to “meet” the rest of the team at Palm. From all of us at Palm, we truly appreciate your enthusiasm -- and your patience -- since January. We couldn’t have gotten to today without you!
-- The Palm team
Hi
What are plans for releasing Pre in India? Are we ever going to see it? There are fans of Pre in India and its disappointing to see no news about pre launch here.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make the Pre available on AT&T...As a Palm Pilot owner for over a decade and now a Palm Centro user, I know that Palm was the original PDA and THE BEST! But I am not willing to switch providers just to get this awesome phone (I considered it, but I won't do it.)
Please?

Nice. Now if Sprint could only provide a network equivalent to ATT or Verizon. Too many dead spots and too many dropped calls. Also need a version of this phone with Direct Connect.

Loving my new Pre so far, but a couple things to note:
- The interface for apps needs work! You should be able to go back to the main calendar page or main email list easily (and other apps have similar problems) without relaunching the app in a new window.
- The back of my Pre tends to get rather hot when I am working with it. This does not always happen, may be related to whether the phone is in use.
- More UI tutorials are needed! The little "get started" booklet is not good enough and the link to get more info is buried on the main palm page.

I just bought the palm pre and my feelings towrds this phone is half and half. I had the palm centro before and became spoiled with it's faeatures ex: forwarding a text msg and setting different tones for my messages. With the palm pre you have a ding or vibrate for your messages and i'm missing my clock feature. What gives?

Beautiful, beautiful job with the Pre. I thought the phone would be great from the demos but I was amazed at the outstanding quality once I had it in my hand. A+++++++++

Would there be an "Unlocked" version of the Pre? When?
Posted by: Hernan | June 08, 2009 at 08:33 AM
I'm really looking forward to get one. Please let me know if you release an "Unlocked" version so I can use Palm Pre in Mexico.
Regards.

I am disappointed by the lack of a task list that can be synced to the Pre from my desk top. An integrated to do list with my calender was very useful on palm OS.

I am an AT&T subscriber and am not interested in porting my service to another carrier. When will the PRE be available for AT&T subscribers?

any idea on when sprint will offer the Pre to existing customers? and how much it will cost? i just bcame a sprint user this january so i still dont qualify for an upgrade thus the reason i cant get the phone is what a best buy rep told me..." Sprint is only selling you the Pre if u qualify for an upgrade or if u are a new customer"...

I have been a loyal Palm user for about 10 years and I need to upgrade from my Treo 750, however, I am on ATT. I love the new phone but not willing to switch from ATT. If you don't offer the phone through ATT very soon, then I will be forced to buy the iPhone. Please help!

will there be a windows version of the palm pre?
Posted by: G | June 09, 2009 at 08:41 PM
I am a Palm Fan and I do think that the Palm Pre is a great phone. The Apple Iphone people rave about that they have more applications than any phone in the business. But they forget that Palm has over 100,000 applications. When developers start developing applications for this phone,it will be even more powerful of a phone. I believe that the Palm Pre is the foundation of what is to come in the future. Who knows I just may buy it.

I bought my Pre on Saturday, LOVE IT! there was no line, My fiancee and I did get the last two from our Sprint store up the street. my ONLY disappointment is how long it takes to actually get one activated. too long of a process...

I just leared about the Pre upon reading an article in the BNET newsletter I subscribe to. I'm very interested in the Pre because I'm using a PDA(Sony Clie with Palm OS5)and like the apps I can get. But. . . it's time to get with the program and graduate into a "smartphone."
When might I expect to see a Pre available on Altel/Verizon?
I'd really like to get into this technology!
