anyone have info on yahoo for the pre? i downloaded the web version, but it isnt special for the pre and doesnt provide an alert when a message is sent to me. HELP.....

JJ

The Pre is a great phone. I'm having so much fun with it. One thing I think the Pre
should have is video camera capabilities with sound ! Most lesser phones has this feature, I think the Pre should have it too.

fab

Yes, update the firmware, i did last night and now have a nice clock/alarm clock

alxhowarth

can text forwarding please be included in an update to the OS?

Sascha

This is a great pda/phone. There is one feature that I cannot find (after all, this is supposed to be a business pda, not just another Iphone, right?
The calendar app doesn't seem to have any categories! I've been using my treo, and use the calendar with different categories (as well as the memo app, while the pre has four different colors for memo's, it also doesn't have categories)
THE REASON WHY I NEVER GOT AN IPHONE IS BECAUSE THE LACK OF CATEGORIES both for calendar and memos.
I think it would be a great idea to make this possible on the pre to truly show it's superiority as a serious business solution

Can you please add the extra digit dial feature like was on the Centro. There are many people in my company with the same phone # at different extensions. I used to be able to just hit the name of the person and it would dial their # and ext automtically. This was a huge time saver for me. As well as add a favorites page, I used to have these employees listed on the page and all I had to do was tap their name and then I was connected to them, NO TYPING. Also can you figure out a way to make unwanted apps removable. Is there a way to turn off notifications of email for set periods of time? I had my Centro set not to notify me at night, so we could sleep. Lastly, and its a stretch, can you make it give back massages

dave

delete hotmail, this is the battery problem

Palm Pre Applications

Very nice set of applications. Would be very interested in seeing more GPS-aware apps. Something like Locale on the G1.

@Bob Caruso:
There is a way to repeat a task in the calendar app. create a new event, then tap on it. the thir option is the repeating option, if you select custom, you can choose from a plethora of options, for example.
for your timesheets. tap on calendar, create an event at the time you wish to do them, then tap on the newly created event. tap on "No Repeat", choose "Custom". tap on "Daily" choose "Weekly", then choose to repeat every 02 weeks, and you're done.

for you're monthly things you can select to do them on the nth day of every month, an option also under "Custom"

has anyone been able to downloan flash for videos a website?

MARK JOHNSON

HI,i just purchased my new pre.I love the apps,my favorate is the PANDORA RADIO.It's the best app out.HARDWARE wise, why isn't the PRE camera, record video.I'm love to travel, and go to concerts and clubs.Taking pics is cool, but i would love to be able to record videos.Such moments,is better than still pics. Are you guys gonna make the camera be able to record video soon? Also, searching the net is great, but the PRE,doesn't do FLASH,which isn't good.Nowadays more sites does't FLASH.Will you guys be update the PRE to do FLASH online soon? Thanks for listening, cause we consumers, will make this product make or break!

CAN ANYONE GET ADOBE FLASH ON THE PRE?

Kriste

i found the alarm clock fine but how do you adjust the volume? The current volume wouldn't wake up a mouse! Also, how do you get a calendar entry to repeat annually?

Autymn Hubbard

I know this may be stupid but I just changed over the pre from the Treo. I downloaded a lot of games to the treo and was wondering if I would be able to move then to the pre. Does anyone I idea about this or am I out of luck. Thanks

P.S. Thank you for all the information about the alarm clock I have been looking for that for the past two days.

Autymn Hubbard

Sorry, I have another question, does anyone know how to forward text messages?

whispers

Hi all. Thanks so much for the comments and concerns. Please keep them coming as we really, really value your feedback.

Regarding specific product questions, unfortunately, we can't answer every one. We just don't have the bandwith with the recent influx of readers to the Palm blog. We'll try to answer as many as possible, but in the meantime, please visit the below link for any additional information. Your fellow readers of this blog have also been very helpful.

Thanks, much

As a long time Palm OS Treo user I am disappointed with losing the sync function and video camera. I hope to see solutions before July 8 the 30 day return date for those of us who when into the brave new world of WebOS and synergy.

Palm Pre Apps,

That is a different feature from what I am describing. You are describing a repeating event (Calendar) while I am describing a repeating task (To Do). Let me clarify the difference:

Repeating Calendar Event:
------------------------
I am going to be in Jamaica for 7 days beginning Monday, July 1st. I create an event in the calendar for June 1st and then click on Repeat, and then End On July 7th. Today is June 30th and I am looking at my calendar for July. It would show that for each day, July 1 - July 7th, I am in Jamaica.

Repeating Task:
---------------
I need to complete a timesheet each and every single work day for as long as I am employed at Palm. I create a repeating task called, "Fill out timesheet", that starts on Monday, July 1st and is repeated every weekday forever. Today is JUNE 30. So when I look at my Tasks there is a single "Fill out timesheet" task listed with a due date of Monday, June 1st. When I complete the task, it disappears from the Task view and is replaced with a "Fill out timesheet" task with a due date of Tuesday, June 2nd. There will be no task with a due date of Wed, June 3rd until I check off the task for Tuesday June 2nd as having been completed. Once I complete the timesheet task due Friday, June 5th, and since I don't work weekends, a new timesheet task with a due date of Monday, June 8th is created.

This what a Repeating Event is versus a Repeating Task. It is how the POS Calendar app (for events) worked versus the POS Tasks application worked.

It is a very critical PIM functionality, there is no such capability in the Pre's PIM applications, and I think that PALM needs to be aware of it
because its absence sticks out to professionals such as myself who are considering using it for both their pro and consumer lives. Hopefully you can appreciate me bringing this to PALM's attention. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Thank you,

Bob Caruso

I am really enjoying the Pre. I'm having some issues with it, but as a developer I know that there will always be bugs and other performance issues on a first drop. With that said, I am really looking forward to updates and on going development.

what happened to keyboard shortucts and customizing your own phone. It seems like Palm got over exited with their new features and forgot some of the things they were known for. No ring tones for txt message, not a lot of menu options for each card, no way to customize colors, rediculos battery life, no video recording,,,,, I love this phone because it has some great features but come on Palm.. Give us some of the basics.

J. Holcomb

I just upgraded from the Palm Centro to the Pre and I was lead to believe that I could use Msn/Yahoo messenger on this device. I'm really dissappointed by this since I use them a lot. The literature included with my pre even shows the OZ IM app in one of the pictures. Any idea when these will be available???

Tony

How about a spell checker? I can't believe they did not include a spell checker.

Ok...how about Music Player displaying the Album Cover Art?

Calculator is pretty lame, compared the one on the Instinct. It was nice to have unit conversions and such...

Anisah

The phone is ok so far, I expected more. Im a litte disappointed because it didn't come with the capablility to change ring tones for SMS, MMS and email etc... They all have that little 'ding' sound, not able to record video's, forward texts, visually view vm or have Live search. I hope an app comes all for....
