Sprint has announced today that the Palm Pre will be available on June 6. Sprint announced that it will be available nationwide in Sprint stores, as well as at Best Buy, Radio Shack, and select Wal-Mart stores. The webOS-based phone will retail for $199.99 (after rebate and service agreement).
The Palm Pre will provide access to all of the exclusive content on the Sprint Now Network, including Sprint Navigation, Sprint TV, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile Live. More details about Sprint’s service plans and retail channels can be found on the company’s website.

Would anyone happen to know why they wouldn't release it for Verizon? I am a big supporter or Palm but I am with Verizon.

Hey guys can you give some idea on when Palm will be releasing Palm Pre in India?
Posted by: Deepak | May 28, 2009 at 01:32 AM
Thankfully, the wait is over! Hopefully, the Pre will live up to or surpass all expectations, and even outdo the Instinct that I love so much...thanks guys! (Let's pray we don't have the same let down as we did with the iPhone with all the additional costs, fees just to get it to do all the cool things you're advertising.)
Love, a die-hard Palm fan

Finally they announced the release. It was taking forever. I was getting sick of the "thinking ahead is a beautiful thing" statement on Palm's page, Been waiting for several months now. Glad I didn't get the HTC Touch Pro.

I have the first appointment at the nearby Sprint store for June 6. They'd better have a Pre ready and waiting with my name on it, or there's gonna be hell to pay! LOL
Oh, and a friggin' Touchstone too!

Ok I have a Big Question, maybe im just being slow but I want to ask before i buy....
I have an employee plan with sprint from working at best buy in the past....it covers unlimited web and data access...I DO NOT want to switch plans to the Everything Data plan.
Can I still order the phone when its available...activate it myself and have it work?
I'm ok with one or two features i know i will never use not working because maybe, just maybe my plan wont cover them...I just dont wanna spend all that money for nothing and have to find a way to get rid of the phone later? Can someone please help me?

I don't understand why all these people with the Sprint Employee plans are complaining. Look, if everyone paid normal price, it would help Sprint out. By you trying to be cheap and getting everything for $20/mo that some of us have to spend $99/mo is just plain crazy. You've ridden free on the coat tails long enough. If you want the phone, pony up the cash and upgrade your plan and get it like everyone else has to.
I'm glad that Sprint has made the decision that Employee Plans are NOT eligible to be used with the Palm Pre. Whine all you want, but it's better for them, and better for those of us who want Sprint to be around for a long time who don't want to deal with Verizon's incompetence and AT&T's holier than thou attitudes. Either case, the Simply Everything plan is a lot less than the same type of plans available on other carriers.
'Nuff said.
I will be waiting Saturday Morning to get mine, and as usual, I will pay for mine, and with my Simply Everything plan in good standing and move it to the Pre.

Sprint and Palm is on the losing end of the phone war. They did not make Palm Pre available to be sold on the first day. I went in hoping to get one, but was told that they had run out at the Sprint store. The waiting list at that store was 40 at the moment. I did not want to wait and walked out. If they are betting on the Pre to save both Palm and Sprint then both company did a bad job of doing so. I'll continue to stick to the Iphone and see how the new Iphone turns out in a couple of days. Sorry Sprint and Palm, but it's your lost.

What a disappointment! The phone and all the new gadgets are terrific but WHY would you change the GREAT planner that Palm is known for? Users are limited in the reminders to the same as other cheap calendars. :( I want the planner back that is in the Treos!!!!! I have waited for 6 months for this phone and loved it until I found out the planner is scaled back. They had one nice feature in the planner to have color coded appointments but I need "reminders/alarms" to have the flexibilty to set them how i need them! I have been a great mouthpiece for the Palm Treo 755 and was for the PRE until now. Fix the planner and I will be your biggest fan!

In the UK the Palm Pre has done an exclusive deal with mobile phone operator O2. Well I guess I have to wait a little longer to get one for myself.
I am an Orange UK customer and I have still five month left on my contract until then I can only dream of owning one.

All the hopes were dashed once we all started using the Palm Pre..It is not a I phone killer it is a comely useless phone. Low battery life, tiny cramped keyboard, slow, un responsive no business apps, unable to categorize contacts, no capability to lock private information..terrible phone wished I had never wasted my money on it.

Does anyone know if Palm Pre has a screen saver w/ password associated with that? I've played with a Pre at a Sprint store and it seem anyone can read your mail on the device once they grasp the device. -Ian

Hi Ian,
Indeed, you can lock your Palm Pre (or Palm Pixi) with a password or a PIN. Just launch the Screen & Lock app and choose your settings under the Secure Unlock header.
