Are your Facebook updates all about your experience with your phone? Do you know what "FP" means? (And are your blog comments a bit more substantive than that?) If you can tweet your opinions about Palm phones in 140 characters or less, we want to hear from you. (Heck, now that all of Shakespeare's plays have been condensed for Twitter, it should be a piece of cake to tweet your nuanced thoughts about your favorite phone features.)
We're looking for a few "Real Reviewers" to share their opinions about Palm phones across the blogosphere, social networks and beyond. If you're selected as a Real Reviewer, we'll provide you with a current-model phone and data-plan service for six months. We'll expect you to regularly share your thoughts about your experiences with your phone on whatever blogs and social networks you frequent (but you're already doing that, right?). We might even invite you to guest blog about your experiences right here on Palm's blog or host a discussion board on our Facebook page.
What's the catch? There's really just one: be yourself. Whether you're a fanboy or a skeptic, we want to hear from you.
Ready to become a Real Reviewer? Apply here by answering a few questions about yourself. We're looking for a mix of Palm veterans and newcomers, from all walks of life. (There are a couple of restrictions, though: You must be a U.S. resident and at least 18 years old.)
If you're interested, apply now -- we'll notify selected Real Reviewers on May 8.

Too bad it's restricted to US residents only. Apart from that it seems that most of Palm's marketin resources are devoted to the US. Do you have any plans to localize some of the Buzz around the Pre?
Keep the good work!

This sounds really cool Palm. Its nice to see all the new fresh approaches the company has been taking this year. I'd love to be a REAL REVEIWER....

Count me in.

I really need to slow down when I read. Just applied, then came back and saw the "US only" bit... Doh!
Just send me the phone and don't worry about the 6 month contract - I'll just use it on my current plan... ;)

I just applied and hope to be approved too. I promise to blog, take good pictures, and provide honest reviews.

wow, great opportunity. I hope I'm chosen!

Cool idea, just applied. Would of been cool if at the end of the Application you had a tweet this or add to facebook button that said something like, "I just applied for my Free Palm Pre" with a link back to this post.

I just took the survey and liked the creative and concise questions. The answers should help Palm capture a good cross section of reviewers. I may be biased, but I think I should be selected given that I have owned the following Handspring/Palm devices: Palm III, Palm V, Treo 300, Treo 600, Treo 650, Treo 700wx, Centro and Treo 800w (currently)! As a Sprint customer since 1997, I have bought almost every Palm product on the network. I have also owned Windows Mobile devices by Samsung and HTC. Come on Palm! Pick me!! :) - Owen

nice, I'd love to figure out how that pre is working comparing to my iphone
Posted by: maxthon | April 30, 2009 at 08:13 AM
Just applied as well. How exciting.
I've been following the Pre now for some time, and it is hard to believe that it is getting so close.
I'll be interested in the feedback from those selected no matter what. I've got such an insane life, I'm curious what a smart-phone like the Pre could do to help manage it.

Interesting team there Jon. Take a look in my application JFTHOI. Product sounds nice. I have to admit Apple hasn't done badly with the iPhone but there are serious annoyance that I hope you noted and avoided.

I assume those selected need to update/upgrade their carrier plan, right? I don't have a data plan (poor college student), but it would be cool to be a reviewer.

I love talking about this stuff, it would be fantastic to be rewarded for doing what I would gladly do for nothing. I can't wait for the Pre to be available.

Alright, I applied! I could really use this as inspiration to upgrade from Tracfone!

This is great. I've been faithful to Palm since I met the Treo 600, then Treo 650, then Palm Centro which I return for the Treo 755p. I just love Palm's phone, they are awesome, I use it for everything...I tune my guitar with it, I use it as a remote control, I've install tomtom on it with a bluetooth GPS receiver, I even have a bluetooth OBDII scanner to troubleshoot the check engine in my car from my phone!!! and of course I use 7 different bible versions during church from my Treo!..let's see what else??? of yes...I use as any other mortal to browse, blog, twitt, schedule meetings, write memos, tasks and all those basic things!.
Picking me would really put the phone to the test. No joke!

This is a genius idea. There is nothing more powerful then honest word of mouth. Plus give the kids a phone for six months and see if they can give it back. Set the hook and yank.

@Unum sed Leonem: iPhone, a smartphone?? iTouch in that same sentence?! Sigh... I hope you are joking.
Been following the Pre for a while now, hope not too many other people apply... :D

Great program. Hopefully you find the right candidates that utilize the phones to its potential. I think the Palm Pre is the phone that I've been looking for integrate into an active tech lifestyle. For IT people to manage their workload and keep in contact to manage operations of a 24hr business as well as keep in touch with the personal life and friends.
Palm Pre will be an evolution of communication for work and personal lifes.
Should be a change in lifestyle =)

Awesome idea! Bring on the killer of the leash to AT&T (iPhone).
Posted by: Dominic | April 30, 2009 at 09:49 AM
This sounds like a great marketing strategy by Palm. Even though it is not mentioned that the review phone will be a Palm Pre, I think everyone assumes it will be. Having craved this phone since CES 2009, I really hope to be one of the reviewers (fingers crossed).

The features of the palm pre can definitely be called Iphone killers. The qwerty keyboard is a definitely plus and the touch screeen flow is unprecendented. Way to go Palm
