The Treo Pro will make its debut on Sprint's Mobile Broadband Network on March 15. The Treo Pro -- running on Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 -- is a proven and reliable tool for mobile enterprise customers. And the Sprint Treo Pro adds some new elements that make it even more powerful.
The Sprint Treo Pro is the first Palm phone available with Internet Explorer Mobile 6, providing users with a more robust mobile browser. With Wi-Fi, GPS, a full keyboard and touch screen, all available for $199 (after the requisite rebates and agreements), the Treo Pro packs about as much bang for its buck as you can fit into a sleek form factor. Perhaps that's why Tom Swift, EVP at Primerica, a financial services company, encourages his over 100,000 agents to adopt the Treo Pro:
"Our agents rely heavily on their phones since they're a truly mobile workforce, and Treo Pro is really convenient for checking business email, connecting to fast Wi-Fi and running our custom TurboApps application. With TurboApps, agents can submit insurance applications, get quotes and complete the application process -- all from their Treo Pro. The Palm innovations added to the Windows platform make accessing the most used functions even easier, so staying productive and efficient is a breeze."

Doesn't the Palm Treo 800w on Sprint already have Internet Explorer Mobile 6?

I don't suppose I can trade an 800w and $50 for a Treo Pro?

I think this is great. While the Pre looks great but I am tied to WM for work and the Pro is a great package and I have been waiting for it since using a friends Treo Pro on GSM, which he loves.
I hope Palm is considers bringing the Pre form factor to WM. I am sure I will get response as to WM vs WebOS, but I think the Pro's target users will understand where I am coming from as well as Palm product people. There is a big market segment of Palm lovers that will continue to use WM 6.1, 6.5 and 7 for several years at least for specific reasons I need not go into here.
I would argue that having a dynamic presence in WM is not counter to the message for pressing WebOS and it can be done without hurting Palm's webOS message.

As a Mac user, and a long-time Sprint customer, I'm still waiting for the Pre, so I can replace my fairly antiquated Palm Treo 700P. The hope that the Pre is equal to or better than an iPhone is the only thing still keeping me with Sprint. If it disappoints, or takes much longer to get here, I'll probably give up and switch to AT&T for an iPhone.

I'm still waiting for the Pre! Any clue as to the release date? Or is it still top secret?

i really love my centro by sprint. especially when i was the only one for a long time with the red centro. im ready for this treo pro and hope that it will come in optional colors like the centro or the palm software. yet, if patent leather black is all sprint have, i'll still be happy until the pre comes out

Great, the Pro is here. WHERE'S THE PRE?!?!?

Tim -- no, but it doesn't hurt to ask. :)

I'm so excited for the Pro and the Pre! I have had my Treo 755 palm and it has lasted me since I have gotten the phone 2 years ago. So excited to get a new phone this year. Great job palm!

Chris -- The 800w has Internet Explorer, but not the latest version, which is IE Mobile 6.

Question: Does the pro have Voice Signal voice dialing software?
Posted by: Curtis Fisher | March 12, 2009 at 04:39 AM
Guess I'll have just to wait...and...wait and...wait for Verizon Wireless to get this phone eh? Still working on the 700WX
Posted by: Reggie | March 12, 2009 at 06:16 PM
Curtis -- no, it doesn't.
Posted by: Alex H. at Edelman for Palm | March 13, 2009 at 09:34 AM
Ok, if it doesn't have Voice Signal then what does it have? And is it on par with VS for ease of interoperability and utility? The last windows device I had (HTC Mogul) was horrible when it came to Voice Commands for dialing.
Thanks,
Curtis Fisher

I'm still waiting for the Pre. Until then -- I will go ahead and get a Pro. I've waited a long time for a new phone -- so long I won't even tell you all what I'm carrying around now. Too embarrassing!

KD -- c'mon, spill the beans. It's just us.
