If you were Jimmy Fallon putting together your wish list of must-have first guests for your new late-night TV show, who'd be at the top of your list? You'd probably want your fellow SNL-alum Tiny Fey, maybe Robert De Niro, perhaps a Drew Barrymore -- but if you really wanted to rock the Twittersphere, you'd want to snag the elusive Palm Pre as one of your first guests.
OK, we were thrilled when Jimmy did a video bit about the Pre with Engadget editor-in-chief Joshua Topolsky at CES in January. And we were even more delighted to help Josh and Jimmy showcase the Pre to the late-night TV audience last night.
Not only was the Pre a hit in its late-night talk show debut -- with drummer ?uestlove of The Roots, the house band for the show, adding his thumbs up -- but the Touchstone charger also got in on the love-fest. And once the Pre hit the airwaves, the Twitter action went through the roof, with Palm, @jimmyfallon, and #joshtops outpacing even the "octomom." Engadget has the same segment here, along with an exclusive backstage photo and discussion about the pros and cons of high-fiving in the Topolsky household.

Call me when the Pre comes with a landscape keypad and when they figure out how to stop the phone from sliding off the Touchstone.

I have two questions about Pre:
- Why aren't Ogg/Theora and FLAC supported?
- My contacts are stored in the SIM card. Does Pre also fails like almost all modern phone in directly accessing these contacts in the contact list? For instance, in a modern Nokia phone, in other to access these contacts you have to go to the contact list, then press "SIM directory" > "SIM contacts" or something, then I get the list. When someone calls/texts me, I get no information about that person. It plain sucks.
Thank you, and good luck with Pre.

CB -- What's your number? The Pre won't slide off the Touchstone when the product is released.

I understand that the Pre will not have HotSync support, will there still be a way to sync with Outlook other than thru an Exchage Sever?

I am impressed with the fact that the Palm Pre has a real keyboard, something which the iPhone does not have. I usually keep up with my correspondances on the subway. But I am concerned about the price point. If the Pre is going to be more expensive than the iPhone I may have to consider the iPhone, because of its large array of applications (I always dreamed of having a subway map on my PDA). If the Pre wants to be competitive with the iPhone, I think that it would be wise for it to have a price point similar to the iPhone if not less.
I invite your thoughts on the matter
