Ok, I want one. Now. When is it going to be available for Verizon customers?

Joe

How about a little more Pre information like release date and price instead?

Or at least a little thing called the SDK. ;)

(Only kidding, I know you can't release any of that yet, but it (especially the SDK and release date) would be nice.

JayCanuck

I vote "I can haz Pre now?" as the official slogan for the Pre! As long as there's a cute kitty to go along with it ;p

Cary

Eye candy!? What about some release date candy?

Henson

I can't believe you posted my picture! (last link)

I feel like a part of Pre-history. Wait, that doesn't sound right.

I have been thinking about how Pre could help us with our lives and could not resist from writing a small fiction story with Pre taking the lead role ;)

Let me know what you think, guys :)

Evgeny -- hey, thanks for adding some "mind candy" into the mix. Your story reminds me of the Arthur C. Clarke-ism: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

When, when, when, when WHEN?????

I've been looking and researching netbooks because the portability/usability is such an attractive factor along with the price. However, now that the Pre is coming - it pretty much answers all the needs I wanted from a netbook. I can't wait!!!

Cary

All aboard the PRE hype train!! I just convinced my wife, brother in law, and his wife to upgrade to this phone when it comes out!

Steve -- thanks for the udpate.

I'm with the others. Release date please!! Especially for the GSM version so I can get one (I'm on AT&T but I'll import it if I have to). I got my Treo 680 last year, and was seriously thinking about an Android phone when a better one than the G1 came out. Not anymore! Give me my Pre!

Evgeny

Jon, thanks for posting my story! Had quite a lot of overwhelming suggestions from readers which I will incorporate further in the story :)

I think you guys have come close to blurring that line between technology and magic with Pre ;)

Now to replace my good old TX I just need the following on the PRE:
1) External storage
2) Garnet OS emulator
3) A big Virtual keyboard to type when using the PRE in landscape mode

phreich

Okay, I like the looks of the pre, but WHY ISN'T AN EXPANSION CARD SLOT INCLUDED?????

What were the developers thinking?????

I have been a treo user for many generations starting from a handspring visor with a phone add-on all the way through a treo 700p. One of the handiest features in the development of the treo line was the ability to use SD/microSD cards to transfer data and to swap cards out (especially for pics, video and mp3s).

I won't buy a pre until it has an expansion slot....

Oh, and a palm-os 5 emulator would be handy too so we can run our old apps that we love and have purchased.

Palm Pre

The Palm Pre and the new Palm WebOS stole the show this year. The phone itself is an exercise in simplicity. With the right combination of capacitative touchscreen and slide-out QWERTY keyboard, we can't help wonder if Palm didn't just beat Apple at their own game. It's got a superior feature set inside and out, with the first TI OMAP3 chipset to market in a smartphone, and all the bells and whistles you could hope for, including fast networking, GPS, Wi-Fi, an accelerometer plus a proximity sensor and an ambient light sensor. Basically, everything the Apple iPhone 3G has and more. Plus, we haven't even scratched the surface with the Palm WebOS, which is a slick-looking touch interface that retains Palm's minimum-clicks appeal while taking full advantage of the phone's hardware. Recent reports are telling us that the phone will have some innovative location-based features that will take advantage of the unified PIM features. Hopefully we'll see this device on the market sooner rather than later, as it looks like it could be a winner, and both Palm and exclusive launch partner Sprint could use a real winner right now. Please tell me somebody OTHER than Sprint will have this phone!!!
