Choosing the perfect ringtone for your phone can be a challenge. For some, the trick is finding a delicate balance between something you like and something socially acceptable so that when your phone rings in public, you get minimal weird looks. For others, it's about choosing something unique so you don't grab your phone every time you hear Beethoven's Fur Elise (which happens more often than you'd think).
Here are a few ways to help you find a ringtone that works for you. You can use your phone to record pretty much anything and save that as a ringtone. For example, you could record a friend yelling "Pick up the phone!" and set that as your ringtone so you'll hear that every time they call. If you're feeling a little more conventional, Myxer lets you search and send music straight to your phone. You can also try MiniTones if you want to use your own song. Both make it easy to customize songs so your personal ringtone can be anything from a chorus to the whole song.

Edelman for Palm
I have finally after a long time solved my problem with ringtones. With the delicate balance of personal and not embarassing. And it was made worse by the fact that I carry two phones, and I like to identify which one is ringing so I don't have to dig around and try and fail.
I finally found the perfect solution.
Vibracall.
Now my two phones are in vibrating mode. Thankfully one of the two let me choose from several vibrating modes, so now short vibrations are phone 1, and long vibrations are phone 2. Done are the quiet times where my phone gave me a start, all because I have them on maximum as my hearing is not the best and in noisy environments I wouldn't hear them otherwise... and long gone are the embarassing looks in a quiet meeting when my ungodly loud ringtones went off.
Now I don't have to remember to mute my phones when I enter a cinema or a meeting. They're always mute. I feel them the same on my jacket pocket wether I'm in a noisy industrial environment or a quiet library.
I've never been so happy before.
