Even the Vatican is Texting!
Wondering how prevalent texting is on the world stage today?
Check this out:
• Doctors in Ohio are experimenting with texting as way to remind teenagers to take their medication.
• Some pizza and burger places will let you text in your order.
• Law enforcement agencies are looking into using anonymous text messages to help solve crime.
But here’s my favorite:
• The Pope is going to use text messages this year during World Youth Day in July to send messages of hope and inspiration to Catholics around the world.
I hope the Pope has his text-talk translator with him on World Youth Day.

Wow, that's cool and freaky at the same time. I guess the world is getting smaller, with every text we send. It's very helpful too! But,wow that's interesting.

...And yet, for reasons unclear to everyone on the planet, it costs more to send 160 characters of text than to talk on a mobile phone for a few minutes. (Indeed, a NYTimes article the other day said it costs more to send text messages than to send data from the Hubble telescope.)
Text messaging is a far smaller amount of data than voice, and should be practically free. How long are people going to put up with mobile phone companies ripping them off this way?

Here in the Philippines, there are SMS services that let cellphone users receive bible quotes and reflections.

That text-talk translator is only good if you use it =). Sometimees even teenagers don't understand all the shortcuts out there. I'm a big fan of IMHO, although it's not very humble.
