Update:
During the process of updating your AT&T/Cingular Treo 750 smartphone to Windows Mobile 6 Professional, some of you may have experienced an issue when attempting to validate the serial number. This has been resolved and you can now validate your device serial number and install Windows Mobile 6 Professional to your AT&T/Cingular Treo 750 smartphone.
Wow! Very exciting. Finally!

Great. Your web site will not accept my serial number. It was indeed purchased at the Cingular brick and mortar store.

Im glad its out. However like many others I cannot download it. Says my serial is invalid. My 750 is old, it has the cingular logo on it. Whats the deal?

Great - now if I could only download it...
Got my phone direct from Cingular, but the Palm site does not accept my serial number... Neither does Palm have any real numbers to call to get information in this regard, and ATT is clueless - after all, it is Palm's website...

When I tried to download the upgrade the Palm website indicates that the serial number on my Cingular (now ATT) Treo 750 is not valid. I hope that Palm/ATT address this ASAP.

You did it, well done, that's the way to go (now a WiFi Treo without bugs ... ooough, :D impossible ).

This is about the biggest nightmare that I've ever encountered in a phone/PDA. For the longest time I had the same trouble as everyone else. Would not except my serial no. Then got a hold of ATT support that got me over to Palm tech support. (Farther than most of you I guess.) It took the tech, three times to get a substitute number that would work. Would not unzip in two Vista machines and had to use Winzip to unzip on an XP machine. Now it won't totally install in a Windows XP machine. Looses sync 3/4 of the way through then won't hook up again. This install is so buggy it's pathetic. I can't throw this phone far enough. So far it's been an all day ordeal. There's no way I can get all the phones in my organization updated. It's going to be cheaper to replace them all.
I'll never have anything more to do with Palm again.

Does this WM 6 update support Good Messaging? The ATT site for HTC 6525 says that Good Messaging isnt supported.
Any help appreciated! Dont want to take an ill-informed plunge:)

Hope you do the same with previous Palm OS Treos when your new OS is ready ...

After my initial issue with a serial number, my second call to Palm Tech Support (first call resulted in a promised callback, which never happened) got me an alternate serial to use to install the update.
HOWEVER - there is one component to the update that neither Palm nor ATT decided they would let us know about - this build DOES NOT support DUN, rather it assumes you are going to connect using Bluetooth PAN. Great - except now my N800 can't get to the net... If you do not have a device that supports connecting via PAN, and need to tether - DO NOT install WM6.
WM6 does support DUN, but it is an option for OEM's to either install it in the build or not - apparently Palm decided for some reason that we did not need DUN. Unfortunately, there are a lot of devices that don't support PAN, but rely on DUN.
Had I known about this, I might have been willing to bear with the WM5 issues - DUN was a very important piece to me...
Palm - is there a patch to re-enable DUN?
grumbles...

Hello,
Just installed the update on both Treos that we have. No problems downloading (i.e. serial number accepted). No issues with installation-smooth and easy. Obviously, just like with any operating system clean install, you will revert back to a new "factory settings" phone. I run Vista Ultimate and Windows Mobile Device Center immediately recognized the telephones. Setup of synchronization was easy as well. We use Yahoo Mail and Treo has easy-to-use setup for that provider, making addition of our acounts simple. New voice dial works. Haven't used it extensively yet, but if it continues to work, I'll deactivate the optional Voicedial feature from AT&T ($5/month/line). All in all, no problems so far.

I followed all the instructions perfectly and when I clicked on the DOWNLOAD NOW link, NOTHING HAPPENED for several minutes. So, I clicked the link again and received the error message: "We are sorry! Our records indicate this device has already received its copy of this download..."
it tells me to click a support link which offers several support options. Theh telephone option gives no US phone number and seems to require some kind of registration that fails over and over.
It also offers an email support option but forces you to read "Solutions" that don't solve anything and never actually give an email address.
What a complete nightmare! What now???
Palm, please publish the process to get past this issue! I can't be the only one...

I paid full price for a Treo 750, then found I would be forced to purchase Microsoft Outlook (more recent version than the one on my XP) in order to synchronize. I was not told this in advance, and it is absurd to add to the already-high purchase price another cost. What a shame; I liked the features of the 750. After years with a Palm, I may switch to an iphone.

I upgraded to WM6 which of course wiped out my Good Messaging install. I re-installed Good successfully, but now my Good contacts are the only I can pull up from a search on my Today's screen. My prior install worked fine. When I did a contact search, it cross referenced both. Any suggestions from anyone. I have contacted both AT&T and Palm customer service and neither were able to resolve the issue.
Please let me know if anyone had any issues like this and how it was resolved.
