While it's not fair to say that the Windows Mobile 6 upgrade for Treo 750s has been delayed (because... [Read More]

my company refuses to purchase palm's from att and cites their lack of support and poor management of the wm6 release as the reason. and if they can't get this right I bet the iphone support and upgrade will be as bad. this is pathetic.

just called 6 different stores in the new orleans area. here are my results taken from each:
store 1: check att website for any updates.
store 2: what's wm6? the treo 750 runs palm.
store 3: we are waiting on palm to release the update.
store 4: i just had training on wm6 for the treo 750, I was told it should be released by the end of November.
store 5: let me ask my manager.... my store manager says that he believes the update has been indefinitely put off. There are problems with Good Messaging service.
store 6: maybe there's something posted on att's website. check it out and let me know if you have any problems finding info.

WELL WELL WELL. looks like no new information surfaces. I'm sick and tired of the wait! How about I just get rid of my treo? HTC has a new TOUCH out. I think I will grab that or the Tilt.

Yeah, I too have gotten nothing but the run around ever since I bought this phone(treo 750). I could almost understand if this was happening with a older model of phone, but this one is one of the latest out there from Palm. I wouldn't be surprised if Palm tries to get away from the windows mobile based devices in the future. Good Luck Everyone. This will be my first and last Palm purchase.

Based on Daniel's post, it appears it is time to start looking elsewhere for a smartly built *and* well supported WM6 phone.

In looking through the various sites like pdadb.net, the HTC Touch Dual seems to be a good option. Good CPU and memory (and WM6).

Wonder if eBay will be overrun with folks trying to sell 750 treos. I've got a few in the family and don't want to take a beating on the resell.

I have heard rumors on some of the various PDA/smartphone websites that Palm will NEVER release the Windows mobile 6 upgrade for the treo 750 for AT&T.

Palm does not have the resources to work out the bugs with the AT&T windows mobile 6 software image.

You DON'T need Exchange Server 2007 to get the benefits of an OS that doesn't crash every day of the week. I've been in IT for 10 years and this is my first jump from a PDA AND Phone to just a PAD/Phone and I've never had so much trouble getting this 750 to do what all my past Pads would do without crashing. (Simple things like NOT loosing contact with the additional memory card, NOT waiting for minutes for a simple app to load, NOT having to reboot at least once a day.) And I'm not the only one in my work environment that has these issues. WM5+Palm+ATT has been buggy from the beginning. Some of us don't need or use Exchange Server 2007 for those particulars features. We just want what we bought to work with or without ES2007. Yes...the form factor of the 750 is great but being kept in the dark SUCKS! The light of truth is ALWAYS better than vague spinning and being constantly put off.

And still no response from Palm.... Great customer service guys!

enough is enough at least be a stand up company and tell us what is realy going on and give us a real time frame . before you lose anymore people

I'm done. I sold mine on Craigslist yesterday, and will never buy another Palm product again.

Why wait for an AT&T branded update when the unbranded is ready and available for AT&T and Cingular users? The AT&T update (if it ever comes out) will have crap software that just weighs down your 750, screw that. I couldn't be happier with my unbranded update on my AT&T 750.

Microsoft just released Office Mobile 6.1 late last week.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/software/officeupgrade.mspx
Hopefully ATT was waiting for that before updating their firmware, so the update would be baked in the firmware and not an add-on patch taking up main memory.

You guys are ranting for a delayed release. You should have seen how O2 handled the WM6 Upgrade. No upgrade for 1yr+ old device models. If you want WM6, buy our new device. Now, that's even worse! So, I'm waiting for the WM6 upgrade on my Teo 750.

WHERE IS win mobile 6.0???????
i am patient, but not THIS patient.
all the bootleg versions of 6 work on att. so what is the hold up??

oh yea....it is now DECEMBER, the end of november has passed.

time to sell my 750.

NO worries guys. Check the phone websites or treo sites and just install the unbranded Wm6 release w/ the simple config file edit during the install process.

HTC is only okay in device support, but even that blows palm out of the water. HTC is also better at updating their customers and making sure everything is supported. Customers have moved on from palm, and sales and stock prices of each company has proven it.

LONG LIVE HTC! This is the last palm device I'll ever own.

Gentlemen @ Palm and/or ATT

If as a corporate organization we could get new 750's with WinMo6, why can't we upgrade our existing 750's?

Is there any way to get anything more definitive then "around the corner?" This is especially frustrating, since around the corner relates to a place - not a time... Sorry about the silly grammar lesson, but since there has been no other comment, it seemed appropriate to at least mention that.

Seeing the problems with stability with my 750, it might as well be around the corner - physically. I would probably have as much of a chance in getting to reliably answer a call with the phone around the corner as if it were in my hand; the assumption is that Windows Mobile 6 should fix some of the issues that the phone has with 5...

It might seem like a small issue to Palm and ATT in general, but the number of calls that these phones miss collectively is worht a whole lot of money to organizations around the world. If you have released 6 for multiple other providers, the product must be stable. If the only thing that is causing the system to have bugs now is ATT specific constraints, isn't it time to consider that the phone should not have all those constraints? Is it really worth the effort and hassle to have all sorts of artificial restrictions on phones simply to satiate the powers that be with phone service providers? Should it not be that the providers compete for their clients with the quality of their service and their products, not attempt to capture their clients into a jail that they feel stuck in?

Just my 2bits...

I guess I'll jump on the long train of disgruntled patrons of the AT&T Treo 750 customers. I couldn't wait to get my hands on one, and bought one the day they were released, with the assurances that it would only be a matter of weeks, or a few months at the most, until the WM6 upgrade would be released. I vow that if my 750 isn't upgraded by the 31st of December, then I will bail on our Treos, and AT&T. The customer support experience in this whole endeavor stinks, and I don't like it.

I am getting tired of this run around between Pal and AT&T. This is not a Windows issue as it works on other phones and even Treo 750 for other carriers. If you have an unbranded version of the 750 Palm has a free upgrade to WM6. The hold up is all AT&T. I see the problem being the take over and re-branding of Cingular to AT&T about the time the release was supposed to happen and now all the code that referenced Cingular and the graphics have to be changed. Should NOT TAKE 6 MONTHS to make these changes. Because our serial numbers on our phones are Cingular according to Palm's database we are forced to wait. I wish someone with an unbranded Treo 750 would post their serial number and then we could all use it to download the unbranded version of WM6 for our Treoo 750s. Or have 1 person with an unbranded Treo download the update and post the file on a web blob/news fourm so we could go download it. Quick simple fix to our issue if only someone would do it.

Everybody, quit whining and go get the official update:

:)

I need the WM6 download address for the unbranded no carrier treo 750 which just came out. An address withouth having to use the serial number.( it does not accept it, I have tried nemerous time but it is no good.

Thanks
Pino

I would like to download the WM6 for a non carrier unbranded Treo 750 withouth the password.
I live in Croatia, Europe and have been unable to use the serial number for any updates. I have not been able to get in touch with Palm directly.

It would be nice if someone could help me out with this problem.

Dino

My client has a user with a Treo 750 who upgraded on Friday to WM6, and is now not able to Active Sync to the Exchange 2003 server. I verified that his Palm has the root cert installed that workedd previously when his Treo was on WM5. Palm tech support told him that maybe the Exchange 2003 cert is not compatible with WM6. Is this a possibility? It appears that there are no other WM6 users.

TIA.
