Interview with Joe Fabris on Palm and Microsoft
Continuing from yesterday's news, I sat down for an audio interview to share my thoughts on Microsoft Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 and Palm's relationship with Microsoft in general.

Also, AT&T Treo 750 customers, an update to the WinMo 6 Professional operating system will be available later this year.

Care to be more specific about WM6 release? It would be nice to see a commitment on this one instead of more "coming soon" announcements.
We've been strung along since summer on this release and it would be nice is Palm or ATT could give us something more definative.

Hey Joe, Thanks for rubbing in all loyal Treo owners around the nation, tht there is in fact an update for the AT&T Treo 750... I think we know, you would have to live in a coffin not to know. So what does 'later this year mean'? Does that mean that AT&T still hasn't sold enough of the Tilt? You know that you can buy a Tilt for $150, no rebate at NewEgg.com. Seriously Palm, put the pressure on AT&T or release a RC-1 to us and lets have a set date and also a release party. I'd attend a local one, or if you wait around 68 days... Then you could just pair it with New Years. Double the party, with half the cost.

Not really suprised Palm isn't giving a specific date after they tried giving us a specific date on the 700p MR and we crushed them when they didn't.
Glad to see you are supporting MSFT, but how about the new Palm OS.

Thanks for the update on WM6. Not as precise as hoped, but better than nothing.
(And thanks for all the hard work.)

With the constant delay of WM6 release dates, it will be quicker to buy another vendor's device than wait for the update. I'm a first time Treo user and I have to scratch my head and ask..why..why the delays? Regardless of who is responsible for the delay (ATT or Palm), the effect is the same. I'm very turned off from a Treo and considering moving to a new vendor that has WM6

A text version of your interview would helpful...some folks are deaf or hearing impaired. (And it is more useful for mobile devices too!)
thank you.

I guess Joe doesn't read the blog.

Good bye Palm!
Sad but true. Since the early days of the Palm Pilot, I've been loyal to Palm. I've tried Windows-based products next to my Plam products and I do not like them. However, I can spend the rest of my life waiting for Palm to get back on the wagon and become once again what it used to be. I am on the market now for a new device and, sad to say, Palm is out for good. It's so hard to believe how smart (at least I though they were) people can let a good business go down the drain. All I can guess is the the early sucess of Palm was unly a lucky shot and it was not based on a solid and intelligent business strategy. I do not see that in Palm and, contrary to it, all see is a list of one bad decission after another one.
So let's be honest. Palm devices have never been the greatest. The only reason I stuck to Palm, was because of the OS. In fact, when Sony came out with the CLIE line, many Palm user, me included, flocked to Sony for the superior devices with the great Palm OS. SO...if Palm seems to be putting more and more into Windows, why the hell I want to stay loyal to Palm? If I want Windows, there are much better devices in the market supporting the Windows OS.
SO...friends...it is time for my to part and to look for better options. No sense to keep my loyalties to a company that has not worked to keep their loyal base of customers. And the sad part of it is that I have the feeling that Palm thinks that in a "future" they will regain their status as the leader they once were in mobile computers. Well, don't hold your breath. I honestly believe it is too late. It was too late last year, and it was too late the year before. And after announcing that the new Palm OS may not be ready until 2009, I have no clue why somewhat in Palm would think that the company has chance.
Good Bye Palm.

Strung along once again. Ever since September we have been told ANY DAY NOW. I even chatted with a Palm rep online and he told me two weeks ago that it would be released "VERY soon".
It's very annoying.

This is crazy...another month will go by with no upgrade. I should have purchased a phone from a different manufacturer that already had WM6...but I was duped just like the rest of you into thinking that the upgrade was 'coming soon' months ago...

it just doesn't cease to amaze me that Palm/ATT delay this release in the US over and over - but release it in Australia. If there are issues with "value added" software (which has no value to me) then release patches to fix them. The only reason I haven't patched mine with one of the "leaked" copies is that I wouldn't put it past either Palm or ATT to booby trap the ATT release of WM6 for those who used the leaked versions.

These people talk really fast!

The official WM6 release for the Treo 750 has come and gone for us users. Later on this year is pretty much now. How much later can it be? There's only two more months left to 2007.
I guess worse case, it will be a christmas present.

Wow Joe really bored me and what the heck are palm kids doing?

Rumoured 11/6 date is here and no release. as someone said, there isn't much more left to this year. It must be ATT because europe and unlocked 750's have had wm6 for months. I could care less about their 'value added' stuff. Just give me wm6, please!
