How long has the Lifedrive not been supported with Vista? That's the real question. Palm has failed their customers miserably. If I were a shareholder, I would have bailed a long time ago.
I'm tired of hearing..."all you have to do is use it as a jumpdrive" to load documents. I have a dozen jumpdrives. None of them cost me $300. I'm left with an extremely expensive electronic rolodex.

Based on the comments here, it looks like I'll have to ditch Palm when I move to Vista. The good news is I'm under no pressure to do it soon; but, you know it's going to happen.
At least I know now that I'd better start thinking about moving to some other mobile platform.
Thanks Palm & Microsoft!

Just got a new PC Vista 64 bit. My Palm PDA is just more than a year old and now I can't use it because I can't install the software. I'd appreciate knowing how Palm intends to take care of this.

After shopping for the pda I thought would handle all my needs, I found out that the LifeDrive was being phased out. Well, I could live with that, but now, after changing computers (which, by the way, only have Vista on them!) I now find Palm hasn't even kept up on THAT market and I no longer have LiveDrive support for Vista! Gee, you didn't refuse to take my $400.00 for my LifeDrive!! You came out with a beta, but not for LifeDrive-So what's the difference?? Come up with a new desktop that will handle Palm devices, not just the smart phones. As for your smart phones, I will never buy a Palm based device. It's too bad, since I always thought that my Palm devices would sync and boot so much easier with less problems. Seems like the only problem now is the company and IT'S lack of SUPPORT!

It shouldn't be this difficult for a HW/SW company who claims to have programmers to code up a simple usb driver for a family of very well known devices which have been around for ages now. Yes, I am also speaking about Vista x64 drivers, and the living fossil that is PalmOS.
Even dumbphones have better sync options for Vista x64 these days.

I'm really mad. Why doesn't Vista support my LifeDrive, I bought it not a year ago and now you tell me it's a dinosaur or what? If Palm doesn't pay attention to us LifeDrive users I'll never again consider on buying Palm.

I have spent a great deal of time trying to discover why I could not hotsync with the Vista compatable software. Surely the tech guys should have checked it with the 64-bit version? Please advise when this is done.

I have a TX and the palm desktop 6.2 beta just doesn't work under vista for me, or at least the hotsyncing part.
I just have to to stick with palm desktop and hotsync manager that came in the box with my TX (version 4.2) until the folks at Palm can produce working software.

Palm desktop and hotsync manager do NOT work on Windows Vista 64 bit.
This is very unprofessional of Palm as in their Website they do claim Vista support but do not mention that this is only for Vista 32 bit and NOT for 64 bit.
This is mis informing your existing customers like me who swich from XP to Vista Ultimate 64 bit!!!

I can't believe that myself, owner of a T5 totally functional and attending all my necessities must have to buy another PDA because I upgrade my OS... If so... Palm just have lost a client...

Just another comment about my disappointment that PALM could not figure out how to support LifeDrive in Vista.
What a great device. I swapped out the HD with a CF card a while ago and it's snappy and capable. I regularly show it off to WinMobile folks.
That said, with the new Visa notebook I must use for work, if I can't get this to work like it did in XP, bye PALM, I'll miss you but did you really not see this coming?

Well we are pretty disappointed that Palm has not provided drivers/support. Our office Zire72's dont work with Vista 64bit - we have had multiple generations of Palm but no more - will look for another solution for everybody in our law firm. Palm just lost a customer.

I just got a TREO 700P from Verizon. I was completely shocked that it is not compatable with Windows Vista 64 Bit. I have 30 days to return the Treo if I don't like it or Palm doesn't provide software that works with it.

I have been trying to find a way to load video files (wmv) onto my Palm TX (I recently bought a new computer with VISTA 32 on it). It appears I am out of luck until you come up with a way to load wmv files onto my Palm. I think my next PDA will be something other than Palm.

I've always bought palm pdas because I didn't want crashy Windows based ones. For similar reasons I run Ubuntu on my home PC - There are lots of us who want a Linux version of Palm desktop please !

The version they are advertising "works with windows vista" does NOT work on Vista x64.
Palm is improperly using the "Works with Windows Vista" Logo. According to the requirements, see

This blog has a lot of marketing stuff about new devices and such but there isn't much help for the problems of existing Palm customers.
Vista has been out for a year now, and the Palm Desktop Beta is 4 months old.
When will there be more explicit info about the limitations of this beta in terms of device support? The list of working devices is short and a number of models are neither in the supported nor in the unsupported list. For example, will a Tungsten E work with this beta or not?
When can we expect the final version of Palm Desktop 6.2 that supports all of the palm models?

I was able to sync on via WiFi with my Palm Tx in Vista Ultimate 64 bit..It did take me a while to get all the settings on my wireless router and the Tx right but once it's working, it's almost as fast as the USB sync that I used to use in XP.
I do realize it's not truly the best method but at least I can now sync onto my Vista- Palm.. please do get a working 64 bit version of Palm Desktop ASAP!

I've been mad for almost a year now. My Lifedrive hasn't been able to sync in all that time. The problem I have is that Vista 64x looks for drivers and can't find any; not even on the disk. Nothing with the software works, not even the 6.2 beta (even though some people have had success. I will not buy another Palm device due to the lack of support or communication with the consumers.

Dear Palm,
Please update your users about the development of support for 64 bit Windows Vista.

WHEN - WHEN - WHEN WILL YOU SUPPORT 64-BIT WINDOWS WITH USB DRIVERS!
YES -- I'M SHOUTING THIS! BEEN WAITING FOR OVER A YEAR NOW!

I have been running the same Time and Billing app (with updates) on my Palm for at least 10 years. It works on every Palm device I've owned. As a consultant, I decided to walk the walk and install Vista 64 on my new build. My only salvation was in the form of an old Linksys USB Bluetooth adapter. At least Linksys has kept up with the driver issue. Unfortunately, this isn't much help for those with non-Bluetooth enabled devices. It's also considerably slower than the wired USB. OTOH.. I do get to sync from anywhere in my office.

I get this message repeatedly notifier EASNotify.dll was not found. Hot Sync is skipping..... What does this mean and when is Palm going to get a fix. Help your existing customers!!! ASAP

I agree Palm needs to step up with the 64 bit drivers for USB. This is not brain surgery. They are extremely dependent upon a small but loyal group of supporters which they will lose over time due to this incompetence.
