Any word on when the Windows Mobile 6 update will be available for the Treo 750?

Thank you!

Installed in 23 minutes. Testing now, but initially I did notice that PTunes does not skip when going to web browser, phone, apps. Will continue to test and keep updating. BTW I did the SD update method.
I'm out!

Hazzah!

Well, I downloaded the update and followed the instructions from the website. The updated took about 30 minutes, not counting backups and syncs.
The only think I did not do is, from the site

"Perform a HotSync operation with your Windows PC to restore the data you backed up at the beginning."

I am using a Mac, so I have no Windows PC. I also use Resco Backup for my backup/restore needs instead of relying on the sync process. One of my favorite things about that backup program is being able to install and run it on the SD card where the backups are stored. The restore worked great with one exception. I was unable to restore my bluetooth device definitions. Of course, I sort of expected this since that was a bit part of the update.

Everything appears to be working fine with one odd exception. When the phone function is 'off', the phone screen displays "Phone Off" in the upper lefthand corner. When 'on', the upper lefthand corner is blank, where it used to say "Verizon Wireless". This does not appear to effect the phone function, but it is strange to see.

The DTMF tone issue has not shown up yet, but I don't often silence the phone. If something comes up, I'll post it.

Thought someone should say it. THANK YOU!!! :) Bluetooth seems pretty sweet now!

There are a lot of folks, myself included having 1X network errors with this release. We waited so long, it is just a drag! 12 years with Palm and this has just been the worst of a great relationship. My fear is that for me and a lot of folks, it is just time to change.

While I'm glad this was finally released, it still has significant problems. Blazer seems to cause most of my reset woes. As others have reported on Treo Central, web pages do not load when in 1xRTT data mode. Only while in EVDO. This is a significant problem.

Things are smoother, but the 700p still has a long long way to go.

Just installed the update via the SD method. I had fear of the DTMF tone issue reported by many of the comments on the Sprint MR blog entries. See this comment
http://blog.palm.com/palm/2007/06/sprint-700p-mr-.html#comment-73560936
for example.

If I hold the space bar down for approx. one second, I do get a tone through the headphone speaker. Not nearly as serious an issue as I thought, since just pressing and releasing does not cause this issue.

I have also found the same tone by holding the home key til the menu appears in the lower right hand corner (new feature, I guess) and then touching elsewhere on the screen.

I'm currently reasonably satistfied with the MR.

Is there any chance of this update coming out for the 700w/wx on other carriers' networks? I have a 700wx that's not on Verizon's network. Please remember those of us that don't claim membership in the elite VZW world. I might be on the forth largest carrier (Alltel) but I would love to have access to this update as well.

Thanks for not giving us the release date (this isn't sarcasm). I think it's better that we didn't know when it was supposed to come out, so that we couldn't get angry if it was delayed. It's like telling a little kid that Christmas is postponed because Santa couldn't get his sled working. Except this isn't Christmas . . .
I still like Palm. I'll try the MR later tonight.

This is an FYI to anyone that uses Versamail to get Exchange based email, contacts and calendar.

I recently performed the Verizon 1.10 update via the SD card. After the install I installed Versamail 3.5.1. which comes on the Treo 700p disc.

Problem: I can no longer sync calendar items.

Symptom: When syncing for the first time the sync status shows that my email, contacts and calendar are coming over, but the calendar data never actually shows up on the phone. What makes the problem more interesting is the when I add a new event to the phone it appears in Outlook. But, if I tell Outlook to perform a Send and Receive on the calendar and then do another sync on my phone the item on the phone will disappear leaving only the Outlook based calendar item.

We have lots of 700p's and it seems that other phones with 1.06 work fine. It's only myself and one other person that upgraded that are having this issue.

Here are the software differences between my phone and another phone.

Mine Phone X

Calendar v1.3.1 to v1.3.2
Contacts v1.3.1 to v1.3.3
Versamail v.3.5.1 to same

I think that somehow Versamail is looking for the version #'s to match to import data into. Or it could simply be a bug in Calendar 1.3.2.

I'll report back if I find any way to fix this.

Palm, any feedback here would be great. Or will we just have to wait another year for a new firmware update.

New News:

I used FileMan to beam the rom apps from the old 1.06 firmware to my 1.10.

I've moved every calendar and datebook related app to the 1.10 firmware phone and it still doesn't work despite the phone having the older version of calendar now.

Now both phones have the same version of calendar.

Palm,

Please respond to these complaints. We need this function to work.

I installed the MR 1.10 on a VZW 700p this morning. I have spent 3 hours on the phone with VZW and Palm trying to figure out why my calendar wont sync with Versamail and my exchange server. It worked perfect with 1.06. They tell me there is basically nothing they can do except to try and exchange it for a 1.06. This is terrible quality control. Palm is advertised as a Microsoft Gold Partner etc.... then they come out with an "update" that breaks my calendar syncing. Crazy

Thank You! No more freeze ups on messaging. The stupid green checkmark is gone! Took about 35 minutes for download. Don't forget to back up your info. After the install the phone does NOT have any of your previous data.

This update destroyed my Treo.

I had to do the update via SD card. Followed the instructions to the letter, and the update bricked my Treo. As in, constant reboots. Verizon is replacing, but I'm finished with Palm forever.

Believe me, this update isn't worth the risk.

I just upgraded to 1.10 and I get a yellow cast shadow effect or fuzziness on all the text. But if I were to change the color scheme, it goes away say when viewing contacts for a while then comes back. But if i were in another app or in the phone mode, the icons will have that yellow cast or fuzzy look to it. Now if i were to scroll around the fuzzy/shadow cast goes away but then come back. So i'm thinking the refresh rate is out of wack. Anyone notice this? Basically the text doesn't look as sharp as before the upgrade.

I downloaded, unzipped, double clicked and agreed with the terms of service but all it did for hours upon hours is copy files after I got a script error in IE. It only shows that an hour has elapsed even though several have. Can't restart my computer yet and there is no other way to stop the non-update from not updating. *sigh*

My phone was working fine before I applied this MR, but now it just keeps resetting. When the Windows program got to the end of "Executing Update" and was about to start "Completing Update", it put up the message for the second time "Attention - device will automatically reset now..." Then it started going through a loop: 1. the Palm logo, 2. the Access Powered logo, 3. the Palm logo again, 4. Verizon Wireless Welcome screen, then it starts over.

I am using Windows XP and had version 1.06 vzw before the MR. I followed the instructions VERY carefully.

Nothing in the troubleshooting tips seems relevant to this. Where should I go for help?

Can you please address the lack of 1x data connectivity on the 700p update? This is very disappointing - there's no doubt that it *should* work.

This is exciting news to me! I've been a Treo user (using a Verizon 650) for two years and have held off upgrading to the 700p.

Now that the ROM update is available, I have just placed an order for a 700p and can't wait to get it. My main two needs for the 700p are EVDO (since I use my data plan to tether while on the road) and Bluetooth 1.2, since I use Softick Audio Gateway nearly every hour of the day. Also, I don't want to retire my full-size SD cards.

Thank you Palm and Verizon! I will be sure to post some fresh "first time user" posts on how the 700p works on ROM v1.10.

If you're still on the fence about this - I updated using an SD card, followed every direction on Palm's website to the letter, then reinstalled every application, one by one, from scratch and used BackupBuddy (desktop so I could roll back to earlier backups) to reinstall my personal files, data and preferences. The initial update was 25 minutes and the reinstall of all apps took about 3 hours. So far no problems and everything seems fine. Thanks Palm; so far so good!

Just about our entire management team has the Treo 700p on Verizon. To be honest, we are extremely disappointed with Palm as each phone has been replaced at least once - in some cases three times (once 4 times). Support costs alone must be costing Verizon & Palm a fortune in replaced hardware. We've been plagued for over a year with all of the reset/loop problems, slow Blazer performance, versamail & sms freezes & reboots, bluetooth woes. (The only 3rd party apps used were MobileTS and Google Maps). Today I installed the Verizon 700p update via the SD card on my phone and it seems more stable, but one of the other managers' phones that I upgraded today is now stuck in a reset loop (yes, I've done a hard reset / soft reset - nothing works). Probably going to have to buy a new phone or try an get a replacement out of Verizon again. Palm is making me look extremely bad for making the decision to purchase the 700p instead of BlackBerry or Windows Mobile! We need a clear and sincere commitment from Palm management that the issues that plague the Treo lines will be fixed moving forward with new releases, or I know several companies that will be jumping the Palm ship at next hardware upgrade.

Unfortunately, the update broke my Exchange ActiveSync. When it syncs my calendar, I can no longer see any appointments. I suspect they are there somewhere, because I can see them coming over, but my calendar is blank.

I've seen many posts on other forums related to this issue, so I know it's not just me. I called support, and Palm is aware of the issue, but Palm, if you're reading this, I'd really appreciate any official communication regarding the problem. For me, the calendar is, hands down, the most important application on the device. I was a Palm Pilot user long before I was a Treo user. I have come to depend on the calendar application.

Also, and this is more of a quirk, but the last character of the subject line of all my emails gets truncated. I could live with it for a while, but I can't imagine it would be too difficult to fix.

Well after all the wait I'm in worse shape now then before! First of all, I haven't noticed any real improvements but a lot of new bugs.

1) More reboots than before...mostly when browsing around in Blazer.

2) In silent mode, lots of noises coming from the ear piece. I don't remember ever hearing those before.

3) Most importantly, My calendar is BLANK. Exchange Activesync shows all of the appointments sync'ing but then I get a blank calendar. I have not found any work around for this yet...but without a quick fix...I'll be moving to a different platform ASAP. Has anyone else seen this?

Do you have any plans to address the network connectivity issue that has been associated with the MR for the Verizon Treo 700p?

Had serious connection problems with my 700p, dropping over half of all calls. When I complained to Verizon, they said they had no spare 700p's to swap with me and recommended I do the MR. I tried it tonight and the Treo is in an endless loop of reboots. When I called Verizon tonight, the rep said the previous called had the same problem and there is no solution. Why did they not warn me that the MR could ruin my Treo? This Treo has been the worst mobile phone experience I have had in 20 years.
