The SD card updater has been reposted to the Palm site - installation details can be found here. We are working to resolve the installation issue with the desktop updater and will make it available as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Verizon Wireless users, we will make the 700p MR available as soon as we can.
Paul Loeffler - Palm, Inc.

Palm-
I had my 700P updated with the Verizon 700P MR, and so far so good. But it's pathetic that I had to find out about it's availability from a Treo users forum, then it was like pulling teeth to get VZW to provide any solid information on availability and how to get it. Are we to believe Palm had no idea this was getting leaked out to the VZW stores? After all the heat Palm and VZW have taken over this MR, you'd think your PR folks would have put out full page ads in the newspapers. Instead, we users once again have to grind our way through the process, and listen to countless VZW reps say that the MR is not available, and if it was, it would only be on Palm's website.
While I'm happy to finally have the MR, to me this experience is just another reason while I'd very VERY reluctant to invest in any future Palm products. I hope things improve over at Palm. (And BTW, been with Palm since the original USR Pilot.)
Good luck.

So...has anyone even heard of Palm acknowledging the problems with MR 1.10? I see an abundance of people reporting the DTMF tones problem (which also includes me) but no response from Palm. I also notice a lot of people upset with newly broken bluetooth connections (cars). To be fair, I see some picky complaints, too. Is it REALLY that big of a deal to set an appointment for 2:35 instead of 2:37? Is your life that rigid? I digress... Lack of response from Palm is making me realize that this blog is useless and should be taken down. If Palm is leaving an open forum for unanswered complaints, it just feeds a machine of negativity. Honestly, I was happy with my Sprint 700p *before* the MR. Sure, I had the occasional hiccup, but I've duped myself into believing that consumer electronics are allowed to have a hiccup now and again. Honestly though, Palm is looking like a company that just doesn't care. Acknowledge the complaints. Hire someone who specializes in customer service so you can learn the proper way to handle feedback - repeat the request, acknowledge the complaint, empathize with the consumer, communicate with the consumer, suggest temporary solutions, even...*gasp*...remedy the situation through permanent solutions or compensation. Does Palm not understand it costs nearly 10x as much to get a new customer as it would to retain an existing customer? Just TALK TO US! That's all we really need.

After checking this blog looking for the Verizon update for months I came across the post by David who said he went to the Verizon store. Well, I did the same and they were only too happy to help It took 30 minutes and I was on my way.
Good luck !

The Verizon update is terrible if you're in a non-EVDO area!
I got the update from Verizon and it screwed up the 1X data connection - blazer, chattermail, google maps - none of them work properly. It's a complete disaster. But hey, the Bluetooth works now. My "smartphone" now can't even surf the mobile web or check email. Verizon is overnighting me a new phone. Hopefully it won't have the new software. FIX THIS NOW, Palm.

It's nice to know that this may be available at the Verizon store, but I got sick of waiting. I have a lot of money invested in my Treo (software wise) so I was reluctant to switch platforms. I went to AT&T Wireless, dropped Verizon like a hot potato and purchased a Treo 680. It is night and day different. Here are the problems my 700P had with Verizon that have not manifested on the 680P:
1) Phone lag when sending/receiving messages
2) Turning the bluetooth off and on necessitated a reset of the Treo, removing the BT device and re-pairing it.
3) Custom ringtone application would not work after a reset, application would have to be launched
4) Bluetooth disconnects
5) Random phone crashes while using the phone, receiving messages, etc.
If, like me, you are reluctant to get rid of your Treo but are sick of the way Verizon kept us out of the loop (and still is, they never let me know about the upgrade when I went into the store last week to give them a chance to salvage my business) then get the 680 from AT&T, you'll be glad you did.
For what it's worth, the bluetooth version on the Treo 680 from AT&T is 3.2a.
No, I don't work for AT&T, I'm just a disgruntled former Verizon customer that really didn't want to give up his Treo.

This is an FYI to anyone that uses Versamail to get Exchange based email, contacts and calendar.
I recently performed the Verizon 1.10 update via the SD card. After the install I installed Versamail 3.5.1. which comes on the Treo 700p disc.
Problem: I can no longer sync calendar items.
Symptom: When syncing for the first time the sync status shows that my email, contacts and calendar are coming over, but the calendar data never actually shows up on the phone. What makes the problem more interesting is the when I add a new event to the phone it appears in Outlook. But, if I tell Outlook to perform a Send and Receive on the calendar and then do another sync on my phone the item on the phone will disappear leaving only the Outlook based calendar item.
We have lots of 700p's and it seems that other phones with 1.06 work fine. It's only myself and one other person that upgraded that are having this issue.
Here are the software differences between my phone and another phone.
Mine Phone X
Calendar v1.3.1 to v1.3.2
Contacts v1.3.1 to v1.3.3
Versamail v.3.5.1 to same
I think that somehow Versamail is looking for the version #'s to match to import data into. Or it could simply be a bug in Calendar 1.3.2.
I'll report back if I find any way to fix this.

We are still waiting for the patch to correct the problems created with the MR 1.10! The stupid DTMF tone is the most annoying one.

The negative effects of the 1.10 MR out weigh the positive effects by far. what is the purpose of improving the performance of the phone by sacrificing its functionality? There are many customers like myself who are eager to see what palm will do to correct this

We are still awaiting a fix from Palm...
Error 3000 has been occurring for over a month and half now.
Palm refuses to provide a timeline on a fix or a means to roll back the firmware which has this new side affect.

It seems like Palm is focusing on the Centro and completely ignoring the Treo line. It has been over six months since this MR was made available. Yet we are still waiting for some communication on when the DTMF bug of it will be fixed! Come on, Palm, please fix this!!

I updated to the latest Verizon firmware version on my treo 700p to fix the lag issue and it killed my data rates. It still shows EV, but my data rate is now typically 56 - 100KB per second vs the 600-700Kbps pre update. This is in multiple locations with all bars. Verizon is wanting to charge me $50 to replace the phone, though THEIR firmware update SCREWED IT UP. Time to move to the next cell phone company... $50 a month for 1x data??? Nor will theygive me credit for me not getting what I am paying for.

OK, when are you guys going to post a desktop updater for Windows again for the Sprint 700p?! Some of us don't have and don't want to go out and buy a memory card reader just to do a MR. Come on, Palm! Are you trying to piss off all of your customers....time to buy an iPhone after sticking with you for over 10 years, I guess! Give me a reason to stay!
