Sprint 700p MR Available
The SD card updater has been reposted to the Palm site - installation details can be found here. We are working to resolve the installation issue with the desktop updater and will make it available as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Verizon Wireless users, we will make the 700p MR available as soon as we can.
Paul Loeffler - Palm, Inc.
Can't wait for the VZW version.
Any information on the difference between the versions, other than branding?

Just curious - aside from the installer being fixed - are there any changes to the actual code?
This would be very important for those of you actually installed the "old" MR.

Can you further define "as soon as we can" with regards to the Verizon Wireless MR?

If this process only works with expansion cards, then why do you have to connect it to the computer?
Or is this another remnant of the old instructions.
Not only aren't the releases beta tested, but it appears that no one proofreads the installations instructions either - good job guys....

Does this download address any issues regarding quick dtmf tones ringing prior to playing a system sound or the yellowing blurry text? Just Thought of Something.... (Non dislosure). I successful download the MR for sprint. Should I reinstall this download again?

Welp, Thanks for the honorable Verizon Wireless Update. I hope that what was learned from the Sprint MR can be applied for these users.

If Palm does not release the Verizon 700p MR ROM upgrade VERY soon, sadly, I will be finally forced to switch to AT&T and buy the new (tempting) iPhone. I love Palm and have owned three Palm PDAs, as well as the 600, 650p, and 700p but alas it does not seem that Palm cares much for Verizon subscribers anymore.....

As soon as you can? What does that even mean? There has NEVER been any kind of substantial information given to the countless Verizon customer. I am glad you got the Sprint MR back out, that is progress, but there is no reason why it shouldn't work with desktop updater after so long it should work flawlessly. As for us lowly VZW users, how about a REAL update? This has to be like the fourth or fifth time you have told VZW users that you have no idea when the MR is coming for them (and no, "soon" is not an update). Don't you read the posts by all these frustrated people? By simply saying the same thing to them over and over you just make everyone even more frustrated with your company.

It will be time to get a new phone by the time I get the MR for my Verizon phone. I have sent letter to Ed Colligan without any acceptable response, except to get this wonderful blog. Now I know that this MR will never be released. I have been waiting for almost 1 year. I receive the phone in August and I have seen 4 new phones released and NO MR!

Let's not give up on the other carriers. It's not right.

Paul, is it okay to install this version of the MR after I've already installed the one that was taken down???

Paul,
Promise this won't brick my treo?
Yeah, yeah, and gullible is not in the dictionary.

Thanks for the update. I'm still scratching my head about how you could have realeased such an obviously flawed update earlier this month.
While I'm frustrated that you haven't released the Verizon update yet, I'd like to believe that Verizon refused the update because of the horrible problems it introduced. Assuming that is the case, thank you Verizon.
Could you please give us a little more detail on the Verizon MR? Some guess when to expect it and why it is further delayed?
Thanks.

Were any enhancements made to this particular release that didn't appear in the previous release? I ask because after installing the last MR via the SD card method, now Bluetooth in my 2007 BMW hangs when I get into my car with my Treo. It didn't do this before the MR.

"Verizon Wireless users,... as soon as we can."
Is that ALL you can say about it? Can't you give us a better idea like, is it going to be before 2007 ends? Before the summer ends?
You must know a little more than "as soon as we can?"
Thanks,

Even though you claim the install method is now fixed, after actually getting it to install on a previous device, but encountering MANY problems, and having to get a new Treo 700p I wont TOUCH the MR. Sorry Palm, instead of only addressing part of the picture, why dont you address how likely it is you'll be getting a new device because of other problems associated with the MR.
Its nice to see a company can be honest.
Quite frankly, its disappointing to me anyway that I had MORE problems after the MR and not a mere improvement in anything.
Oh well, I got a brand new 700p on Palms behalf.
Thanks Palm!

I'm going to try this update to see if I can get my phone to be silent again!

Please give us a rough guess when the Verizon update will be available (a week, a month...etc). I hate checking this blog everyday to see when it might be available.

I'm curious... has anyone applied the update and *not* had the problems with the DTMF tones?
How to test (after the 1.10 update):
- Make a call, set the headset volume to max (not required, but makes it easiest to hear). End the call.
- Go to the phone app.
- Shut off the speaker switch.
- Detach any headsets.
- Press the space bar.
- If you hear a touchtone, you've got the bug. If not, then maybe this is just sporadic on certain hardware revisions.
There are just too many people complaining about this and palm just acts like there's no new problem with the MR. For me, this is a huge leap backwards.

What does "as soon as you can" mean? we have been hearing that for months now - so obvious "soon" is a relative term. Can you please give an update with a little more substance to it? I think we'd all appreciate it very much. Thanks.

I don't suppose we'll soon see a patch to fix things that the MR breaks? I speak of the new bluetooth problems, as well as (of course) the DTMF tone problem that the MR introduces.

I have patiently waited for 6 months for an update that allows my 700p (the most expensive top of the line model at the time of purchase) to function correctly. The length of time that it has taken to release thie "MR" is absolutely inexcusable. After a promise of an update in Q1, then a May 28th release, Verizon users are still hanging on a promise of "as soon as we can". This is completely unacceptable. I purchased this, my 3rd Treo, because I needed the features that would benefit my business communications. After 10 months of using your top of the line phone, I find it to be extremely unreliable and trouble prone. Like most Verizon customers who have the 700p, I have no choice but to continue to wait, but some honesty about what is going on would go a long way. Palm has betrayed the trust of customers who plunked down their hard earned money for your products and you can't even do them the justice of giving them a straight answer. Trust is a difficult thing to earn. I don't even think that simply making your product work at this point is adequate compensation for all the time I've spent watching my phone reboot in the middle of a conversation or all the time I have spent trying to tether my computer, let alone all the time I've wasted online reading about problems, fixes, workarounds and broken promises.

My Verizon contract is up in two months. Who wants to bet on which will be first; the MR for Verizon or me switching to a BlackBerry on Sprint...

I did a binary compare on the new SD MR Update and the old one. They are identical !!
That's why the announcement says the MR was just "reposted". So if you installed the MR previously this one will not fix anything more or less. The issues are with the USB install.

Please give Alltel and other carriers the bluetooth fix.
