We have seen several people inquiring about support for Palm Desktop on Windows Vista:
http://blog.palm.com/palm/2007/04/editors_note_bl.html#comment-68399558.
I wanted to let everyone know that we are working on a beta release of the new Windows Vista-compatible Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager software - time frame for the release is this summer. I will make sure to let everyone know when the software is available.
Also, here is a link with info on Windows Vista for Palm's Palm OS and Windows Mobile devices: http://www.palm.com/us/support/windowsvista/.

I have just downloaded the outlook 2007 conuits to make my Plam compatible with my VISTA and Outlook 2007. I checked the control panel to make sure the download was successful, it was. My Palm still will not sync with Outlook. Can I have some help please?

I would also love to know if anyone has tried Palm Desktop 6.2 Beta for Windows Vista. Palm: what has been the feedback from users so far? Is it worth trying at this point or should we wait?
I have a new Centro and new laptop with Vista. I don't want to add programs that won't work, but I need to have the ability to sync.

I have a shiny new TX that has not been used since my older XP laptop died...bought new laptop with Vista Home Premium - and after hours and hours and hours of attempts - with and without PALM support, have given up.
6.2 was promised last summer, then fall, now some time in '08...my entire warranty will expire on my TX with not leaving the cradle it has been on for over 6 months.
I have used Palm devices for years and this has forced me to look into WIndows Mobile devices against my better judgement. I am using the Samsung i760 as a test right now...seems to work just fine.
C'mon PALM, don't hose us dedicated users! Get the VISTA link fixed NOW!

I have a Tungsten T2 and cannot get the alarm to alert me on the desktop unless its open. I'm running Vista
I cannot believe you expect us to use any product you release with such a bad record in the Palm Desktop software product.
Your brand is being flushed down the drain. Why can't you pay some attention to it?

I've been using the Vista Beta 6.2 on my Vista Business desktop for several months and it works fine with my Tungsten E2.

Just got a new Palm TX for Christmas. After installing the CD that came in the box on my Vista PC, I was unable to hotsync. After digging through the internet I found the unsupported Beta Palm desktop software which is now over 6 months old and installed it.
I can no longer hotsync at work since they still run XP there. When I attempt to hotsync, it now locks up on calendar so Palm desktop is now useless at work.
I have been a loyal Palm customer, but if they can't find a way to support both XP & Vista I have to reconsider whether or not I want to stay with Palm. Very dissapointed customer, I can no longer recommend Palm to friends and family. Is there any development or support at Palm anymore?

I downloaded and installed Palm Desktop 4.1.4 this morning so that I could hotsync with my new laptop, which uses MS Vista Ultimate 64 bit.
The system was unable to find the USB driver. I'm assuming that the Palm Desktop 4.1.4 drivers don't support the 64 bit version of Vista.
When will a 64 bit USB driver be available?
Thanks.

Daily demands to Palm for the Vista x64 USB driver are necessary. Hound them!!

And yet another request for a Vista 64 driver and Palm Desktop app. This is sad.

JUST BOUGHT THE NEW TREO 755P FROM VERIZON!
HAVE HAD TREO 600 DESKTOP INSTALLED ON VISTA ULTIMATE 32 AND IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM.
DOWNLOADED AND INSTALLED 6.2 BETA AND IT DOES NOT WORK. THE DESKTOP WILL COME UP, HOT SYNC SAYS IT IS COMPLETE, BUT NO DATA ON DESKTOP.
TRIED TO GET HELP FROM PALM TECH (SOMWHERE IN THE PHILLIPINES) AND THIS WAS USELESS. PALM TECH DOES NOT RESPOND TO E-MAILS!!!
I AM STUNNED AT THE LACK OF SUPPORT AND THE DELAY IN GETTING VISTA DESKTOP STUFF OUT.
PUTTING OUT NIFTY NEW HARDWARE LIKE THE 755P IS GREAT, BUT WE ALSO NEED THE SUPPORT AND SOFTWARE THAT WORKS! EARTH TO PALM, ARE YOU LISTENING TO THE VOICE OF THE CUSTOMER AT ALL???????

Since I got my new Vista laptop in Sept. 07, I have been successfully using the Desktop 6.2 beta with my Palm Treo 700p.
However, Desktop 6.2 beta now won't run at all. Yesterday I installed a bunch of critical Vista updates, so this may be related, or it may be that there is a date issue with the new year. I can still synch, but can't run desktop to see anything.
Either way, will Palm PLEASE provide some fixes or get the full version out to us?

Wow...this 64 bit thing is bordering on ludicrous. Why in the world is Palm updating Outlook 2007 support when half the machines out there that run Outlook 2007 can't synch because they're 64 bit! And still not a peep out of the Palm camp...not a hint...nadda. It's not even sad anymore...we've been dumped and abandoned. Windows CE is looking mighty good right now :(

I downloaded the Palm desktop to Windows Vista but it did not install completely. Now I'm unable to uninstall Palm. How can I fix this problem? Need Help! thanks.
Posted by: JValdez | January 17, 2008 at 10:16 AM
Well, V6.2 has gone beyond beta! Yeah - I am glad for the timing, I don't have to sell my VX on E-Bay.
I downloaded and installed the 6.2 on Vista Home Premium; using the administrator to install...which is not where I work however. I appeared to sync as admin, but will not as a user...now what?
Palm used to be so simple...it just worked.

Hi
Is there a convenient way of transferring all my contacts, calendar, memo, notepad etc inside my Palm TX to a PDA running on Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC?
Posted by: John | January 24, 2008 at 07:53 PM
OK, my palm is not working on vista either, I also have the X64 bit thing. When will the new version be available???? I need it now...
Posted by: moni | January 25, 2008 at 09:49 AM

As an engineer, I understand that things happen, problems arise, and promised release dates get pushed back--even for a year. However, I am very dissappointed with a complete lack of feedback to the loyal consumers of this product. If dates need to be pushed back, we should be informed--especially in a forum where the support was initially promised in the May 7 post.
Get with it and have some accountability.

Please create a vista 64 bit driver for syncing the Palm 700p
Posted by: David | February 26, 2008 at 08:52 PM
This is yet another request for a Vista 64 bit driver for palm desktop. It is now 2008 and still no support for vista 64. My palm treo 755P is just an expensive phone until you get the compatible software released. please please please hurry with this already

I am in the process of upgrading to a Vista 64 OS and have been checking out potential compatibility issues. I bought a T|X last summer on impulse to replace my T3, which was dying through overuse. Fine, but I then found I had to change all of the accessories as the connectors are not compatible. Irritating.
Now I find that there are no drivers for the 64 bit OS and apparently no appetite to provide them. I have used Palm devices since they were bricks and am dependant on a PDA to keep my life going.
Looks like you are perilously close to losing another customer unless you pull your fingers out - sad really.
